Sandy found her Zig markers, and are you in for a treat! Her vibrant treatment of the Freshly Picked Bouquet will make you smile. Check out what she's created, then scroll to the end of today's post for information about a Facebook Live event happening TONIGHT. Hope to see you there!

Hello fellow colorists! It’s Sandy Allnock back again with some coloring, and I *think* this is two firsts: flowers, which I don’t think I’ve ever colored here on the MFT page, and Zig Clean Color Markers...have I really left them to gather dust!?

In actuality, I haven’t pulled them out in eons — they were underneath a box and hidden for so long! But they’re out now and ready to play. So let’s get going!

The pretty little bouquet stamp just cried out for bright color, which is what got me to go look for the pens. The flowers look happy that I did!

I didn’t use any water with these; the color gets watered down a bit with water and I wanted the intensity. Colors in these pens can also change drastically with water, so there’s that too.

Coloring with the darkest color first, then a medium tone, then a light — that worked out perfectly. If you want to keep a light color really light, be careful not to “drag” the other colors into it while blending. A second green was mixed from a yellow and a green for the more olive-looking color, that way I had two different types of leaves in distinct tones.

These are the colors I used. The 052 is missing a label because (not surprisingly!) it was the one color in my collection I needed to replace, but I never printed the labels again, so I need to get on that for my favorite yellow!

I think I’ll be playing with my Zigs again now that they’ve been found. Keep an eye out, eh?

PS: FACEBOOK LIVE TONIGHT!

This evening on Facebook I’ll be doing some Zig Clean Color work as well. Will you join me?

  1. Download the image and print it out. If you can print on a watercolor paper that’s fine. I’ll be using Neenah, and will explain why during the broadcast.
  2. Grab your markers! These are the colors I’ll use: 064, 072, 901, 066, 068, 062, 902, 094, 032. Bring a fine or extra-fine Sharpie OR a .5 micron pen too!
  3. Join in the FB Live broadcast on my page
  4. If you miss it, look in the “live” tab on my page to see all the past MFT live videos too!

Great easy instructions! I was just using my zigs & having a hard time blending them. Will try the paper you suggested and this new stamp! Thanks!!
