These Caffeinated Cuties from Jessica Frost-Ballas Are the Perfect Blend
Today our friend Jessica is joining us with a card and video — she's teamed up two of the adorable buildable character Die-namics with some of the newly-released coffee-themed products to craft a card that's the perfect blend.
Hello, Jessica Frost-Ballas here and I am so excited to be guesting for My Favorite Things! Today I’ve created an interactive card using the new Mini Café All Day Die-namics and Cup of Love stamp set with two of my all-time favorite critters: Friendly Fox and Raccoon Cutie!
To start, I die cut the Friendly Fox and Raccoon Cutie using Neenah 110 lb Solar White, Cement Gray, Gravel Gray, Steel Grey, and Black Licorice card stocks. Then I used Red Hot, Neenah, and Kraft to die cut my coffee cups. I also cut the Twist and Turn Interactive Die-namics components twice using Neenah 110 lb Solar White. Next I added a little Distress Oxide ink blending to my raccoon, fox, and cups. I blended Pumice Stone on all the white parts of their faces and Spun Sugar on their ears with a blending brush. Then I added Hickory Smoke to the Cement Gray raccoon body. Next, I added just a touch of Black Soot to the Gravel Gray fox body. I used a slightly heavier hand to add Black Soot to the raccoon’s tail and eye mask. I also blended a little Vintage Photo to the coffee cups and Aged Mahogany to the cup sleeves. Finally, I used Copic markers to add accents to the whipped cream and coffee cup lid. I used E41, E43, T0, and T2.
Then it was time to assemble the Twist and Turn Interactive Die-namics mechanism! I followed Laura Dovalo’s advice to double up the layers for more stability. I adhered the layers together and then used mini brads to connect the pieces. For the rest of my card I blended Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide ink onto a panel of Neenah Solar White Card Stock. Once it was totally dry, I spattered it with water a few times and blotted off the excess before trimming it down to an A2 panel. I followed Laura’s super helpful tutorial for assembling my Twist and Turn mechanism under the blended panel. I finished setting up my mechanism by die cutting circles in the fox and raccoon bodies to place over the openings.
I finished assembling my raccoon and fox and adhered them to the blended panel. I adhered the coffee cups and added their paws, trimming off the excess. After the critters were adhered together, I added a single layer of foam mounting tape to the back of each cup at the top and bottom but did not remove the adhesive backing. This just gives a little stability to each cup since they’re only adhered to the card with a foam dot. I added a foam dot over each brad and then attached the cups. When you pull the tab, the cups twist and turn!
Next I stamped a sentiment from Cup Love onto Black Licorice Card Stock and heat embossed it in white before trimming it down to a thin fishtail banner. I adhered it to the card and then attached the card panel to a top folding base. I added a few accents with a white gel pen and finished the card with a layer of crystal glaze and a little chunky glitter on the whipped cream.
I love how perfectly sized the Mini Café All Day Die-namics are for those adorable critters and I hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial! Be sure to watch the video HERE or below for more details on the card assembly. Thanks so much for visiting today and have a fantastic day!

Awesome card! I will definitely try a card similar to this. I love the cards with movement but just am not used to coming up with how to make them. It will take practice.
