An enchanted watercolor forest is a perfect home for the characters in the new Hanging with My Gnomies set, and Sandy is the perfect person to create it. She isn't afraid to add some drama with deep, dark tones that amplify the vivid colors she's chosen for her stamped images. Keep reading to learn how she made some magic with the latest from Birdie Brown!

Hello colorists! Are you loving this month’s release? I was so excited about Hanging with my Gnomies that I literally squealed! The girl gnome with the hat hanging down over her eyes — she must have quarantine hair underneath there, right? Ha!

I got out my watercolors, and I know the background on this may look crazy but it’s not as hard as you might think. You could certainly stop at just painting the image, though, and it’d be an adorable card! Watch the video to see how it’s done…

To do the stamping, first stamp the two gnomes in front of the house and mask them — but you only need to cut out the half of the mask that’s in front of the house. Save yourself a little time there!

You could make this same simple scene in a lot of other mediums, just add lots and lots of green, then layer in that section of dark behind the images and between and under the trees!

One of my favorite little things in the set: this sentiment! So many stamps with gnomes say “from our gnome” rather than “my” — as a single woman, I love the singular sentiment that’s perfect for me!

If you try this scene, I’d love to see what you make — come tag me and #mftstamps on Instagram and share what you’re creating!

Big hugs from 6 feet away!

Rcvd order yesterday. Was happy with the wonderful packaging of everything wrappef in pink tissue, boxed and in a Fedex envelope. I am cutting the dies. Making sure I do not lose tiny pieces.

Sandy,I absolutely loved this card! There are lots of gnomes out there but these have to be the most adorable by far. And was that your beloved New Gamboge you used as your first yellow base? I also agree on the sentiment: nice to see a ‘my’ there for once. Love, Didi (Leonard)
