How are you all feeling? Are you ready for a giant air hug from Birdie Brown and Sandy Allnock? It's the first Create in Color of 2021, and it's a good one! Grab your colored pencils and watch as she brings the largest image from Hug It Out to life. Once you've learned more about Sandy's process, make sure to scroll to the end of today's post for some fun news about an event happening TONIGHT. Hope to see you there!

Hi there! It’s Sandy Allnock here with some fun coloring to start off the new year! When I saw Hug It Out, I knew instantly that would be a go-to set this year.

I’ll be coloring up the image with all the animals in it, but I can’t wait to work on the rest too! Multi-animal images are such fun to work on — and no masking is needed either!

The sentiments in this set also couldn’t be more perfect for the times we’re in…I can’t WAIT for the end of air hugs, how about you? Consider my video a real bear hug coming your way!

I used a pretty limited set of colors. Repeating them throughout all the animals but in different combinations keeps the whole picture looking unified yet gives each critter a character all their own. I love what adding a little of the reddish brown did to change up the squirrel!

As I say all the time, spend some time coloring up a card and it really doesn’t need embellishing. Just a bit of dimensional adhesive under the panel gives the card “heft” without adding a lot for postage.

The stitched border die has long been a favorite for me in finishing off cards; just a wee bit of stitching lets the coloring take center stage!

The animals look so fluffy and soft you want to hug them. I love the way you colored them!

You are so generous. We stampers really appreciate it. It gives us something to look forward to and hope for, even if we don’t win. And it is so much fun to see the new products, and see what the designers have done to bring them to life. Thank you so much!
