Kathrin is joining us one last time this month to share a humorous (and inventive!) take on her own feelings during the holiday season…I’m sure many of us can relate.
I got inspired to create this card by the Sassy Pants Holidays stamp set, which I totally love! We all have friends that one of the included sayings fit perfectly. Well, I could send this card to myself! I tend towards perfectionism in whatever I do and so myself, lying under the tree, and tangled in Christmas lights wishing for cocktails isn’t such an impossible thing to imagine. 😉
Here we set up the tree on the evening of December 23rd and then Christmas Eve is the main celebration. Whatever isn’t done by the morning of the 24th won’t get done. Each year I stress about getting everything done in time, and it would seem this little bear is in agreement.
I’ve stamped the Christmas Background onto white card stock using the tan ink and matted the rectangle with some green card stock. The Merry Christmas Circle Frame was cut from gold glitter card stock, and on top of it, I’ve added a tree and the poor bear. The tree is from one of my all-time favorite sets — Santa’s Elves — and colored with Copics. The bear is from the brand new Unbearably Cute stamp set…I can see those bears being used for so many different occasions.
As mentioned he’s totally tangled in those lights. To create that look, I’ve stamped the bear first, then used the cute puppy wrapped in Christmas lights from Happy Pawlidays only inking up one of the light bulbs. I stamped the bulbs across the bear, colored it, and used a black Fineliner to connect the lights. I stamped the saying directly to the bottom of the card base using Field Day ink.
That trick for isolating one of the Christmas lights found in a stamp image featuring many is ingenious! Now you can holiday up almost any character in your collection! While Happy Pawlidays does feature individual lights, the smaller size included on the puppy image suited Kathrin’s needs better, so she improvised beautifully. Are the wheels spinning? Let’s see what you’ve got. Tag us at #mftstamps when you share!
