Add Depth and Texture with Speedy Watercolor Washes of Color
Yesterday Jessie shared a pretty watercolored scene featuring a delightful die cut and softly-colored background. Today, she’s brought back the loose background color but paired it with some high-contrast coloring.
The whimsical Cool Christmas images steal the show…maintaining a clean and simple background keeps the focus squarely on this adventurous snowman clan. The blocky sentiments included in the stamp set are simple but packed with personality — Jessie used hers to ground her frosty family as they whoosh their way to a holiday gathering.
Pretty layers of color act as a subtle backdrop, adding texture and depth in mimicking a crisp winter sky. This technique is a great starting point for a novice painter but one that can be expanded upon as your confidence and experience grow.
Big thanks to Jessie for joining us this month, sharing her ideas, and leading us into our November Countdown that starts tomorrow. We can’t wait to unveil another festive release so make sure you stop by tomorrow for the first of our countdown posts.
