Mixing It up on Pirate Island: Watercoloring with Sandy Allnock

It’s Sandy, back again – has it really only been a month since my last visit with you? I’ve been traveling and visiting family, so I’m still getting my feet back under me – and it’s leaving me discombobulated. I hope you guys are having a super start to your summer!

The new release is lots of fun…and when I saw Pirate Party, that was the stamp set that cried out to me instantly to color! And since I’m getting amped up for World Watercolor Month in July (more on my blog about that HERE), I thought I’d get out the watercolors to paint an island for the stamped scene this time.

I used my Daniel Smith watercolor palette and challenged myself to use less saturated colors, achieving the subtle look by mixing browns into some other colors to bring them down a little. Check out the split-screen video HERE or below – you can watch me mix paints this time!

Wasn’t that fun? Would you have chosen to put the kids on the deck of a ship, or an island like I did?

(A favorite holiday is Talk Like a Pirate Day on September 19th!) Sandy – I love the muted colors of this card – so different, when we’re thinking of kids – but it really works! Cute stamp set, too!
