Heart-Stealing Projects from Kristina

Kristina Pavlovic is back today – hooray! She has three more incredible projects for you to savor before we begin our February Release countdown tomorrow (double hooray!)

Hello everyone!! This is me, Kristina, from Kristina’s Art Corner again.

For today I also have three different projects. One of them can be put in CAS category, even it’s actually not. The other two projects are complex and complicated but the effect they make…you will see!

With those special projects I wanted to express special gratitude and give thanks to MFT for trusting in me and giving me a chance to be a guest designer. I also wanted to show how MFT products can be used to create complex scenes since it is so easy combining them. Even though for these projects I needed a couple of days, I enjoyed every second of the creative process.

Thank a bunch MFT for letting me be a part of this amazing team, even for a day or two, and making my dreams come true!

Handmade project from Kristina Pavlovic featuring My Favorite Things stamps and Die-namics #mftstamps

When I started this card I was not sure how it was going to look in the end, but I knew I wanted a bunch of multicolored hearts! So I decided to play with color and have fun in the process. I have cut out the white panel using Blueprints 29 since I wanted to have a stitched border. Then, with the new Stitched Heart Grid Die-namics, I die cut the same element twice – to get this nice panel filled with cute little die-cut hearts. With the help of my mini ink blending tool, I have inked all of the hearts – and there are 32 of them! As I worked, I realized that is the exact number of the distress ink colors that I have! How fun is that?! That way, there is no repetition of color. The order of them is just my personal preference. OK, there is one that repeats itself – it’s a little red heart that you can see again down near the sentiment!

For all the hearts I used a Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen and on the little red heart, I used Glossy Accent as well. I arranged everything on the panel, and then added the sentiment. I used the Strike Up the Band and Ewe Are the Best sets to combine words and create a unique sentiment stamped with black ink. I cut out the sentiment panel with Blueprints 29 as well. I decided to position the sentiment flush with base of the card so I used black card stock for the base, and adhered my white panel on it with some foam tape.

In the end, I was very pleased with this card. I love how colorful hearts look on the white panel and the black base, but most of all I had so much fun!

Handmade project from Kristina Pavlovic featuring My Favorite Things stamps and Die-namics #mftstamps

For this card, I “stole” the idea from the amazing Vicky Papaioannou and her winter tunnel book. I decided to recreate this fabulous idea, but in the form of card!

First, I cut out 4 of the same sized panel from light blue card stock. Then I used the Inside & Out Stitched Oval Stax Die-namics to make oval windows on 3 panels, in 3 different sizes. In this way, I created the illusion of a tunnel. From the white card stock, I die cut the trees using the Solid Birch Trees Die-namics. For the snowy hills I used also white card stock and the Stitched Basic Edges 2 Die-namics. I decided to cut out the “hills” in different heights to create the illusion of landscape and give the scene some depth. All of the other card elements are from Deer Friends. To stamp the deers, I used Vintage Photo distress ink, and to get the shadow effect on the bottom of the image, I used MFT Hot Fudge Premium Dye Ink. To color the lake and front blue panel, I used distress inks. For the other images, I used VersaMark ink on the same light blue card stock that I used for the panels, and embossed with white embossing powder.

As a finishing touch and to get a frosty look, I used Wink of Stella Clear Glitter Pen. To make it a true winter scene I added some snow. Snowflakes are die cuts from the Snowfall – Vertical Die-namics that I glued on in a random pattern one-by-one with Multi Medium Matte.

And so, the card came together! I glued each panel on top of the other, sandwiching elements in between, making sure that the largest oval is in the front, and the smallest in the back.

Handmade project from Kristina Pavlovic featuring My Favorite Things stamps and Die-namics #mftstamps

Can you imagine a deer family that comes to the water spring to drink but finds out that the water is already occupied by a young otter family? This is how I pictured this project! The initial idea for this project was to make a tri-fold card. As I planned my project, I realized that I wanted to put a bunch of elements on the panel and that it would get too bulky and not be able to close. I have ended up with a large panel reinforced with the same shape base. It’s a pretty large piece and the dimensions are 30 x 15 cm (12″ x 6″).

The top edge of the card was done with Stitched Scallop Basic Edges 2. With Stitched Basic Edges 2, I made snowy hills in the background. With the same die, in the bottom left corner, I made a little pond, and used two shades of distress inks to color it. This is where Otterly Love You came in to play!

I stamped the otters and rocks withblack ink and colored them with my alcohol markers. The shrubs in the lake were stamped with light green ink and I used Nuvo Crystal Drops Gloss Apple Green to get the effect of little berries on the top of the shrubs. All of the other images from Deer Friends are stamped with black ink, colored with alcohol markers, and die cut with their coordinating dies.

To make the whole scene I added the mountains and trees to create the woods. The trees are colored with distress inks using a mini ink blending tool. Of course, there is a Wink Of Stella Clear Glitter since there can never be enough shimmer and shine in a winter scene. All of the elements are mounted on the base with Scor-Tape, foam tape, or Multi Medium Matte Glue.

I hope you like this project of mine, and that it inspires you to make something unusual and interesting. I know this scene will be framed and placed on display alongside my other favorite projects.

So…that’s it! Once again I want to express my gratitude to MFT for giving me the chance and trusting in me. I hope I lived up to their expectations. It was a great pleasure and honor to be here with you all. Thanks a bunch for a beautiful new release each month that allows us to enjoy our hobby!

Be creative every day and enjoy! Many hugs and kisses from Sweden!

Yours truly,

Kristina

Crafty Hugs from Kristina

Today, we’re so happy to welcome Kristina Pavlovic. Her diverse collection of cards is sure to appeal!

Good Morning! Kristina Pavlovic here, and I am extremely thrilled to be a guest today and tomorrow on the MFT blog.

I’ve been a fan of My Favorite Things for quite some time and I often use MFT products on my cards. You can imagine my excitement and honour to see my name amongst these extremely talented designers.

Today I’m sharing 3 different cards with you which feature gorgeous MFT products, both new as well as previously released.

Handmade card from Kristina Pavlovic featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

My first card as a guest designer here on MFT is a shaker card. For the front pink panel I used patterned paper from the Sweet Celebration Paper Pack. I cut it to size and then, with the new Abstract Heart Die-namics and my Sizzix Big Shot machine, I die cut the shaker window. With the same die, I cut the heart from white card stock.

On the back of the panel I attached acetate with Scor-Tape and raised up the whole panel with foam mounting tape. I filled my shaker window with different colored sequins from the Princess Sequin Kit and put everything on the white card base. I adhered the die-cut heart with my Multi Medium Matte Glue on the front of the shaker window, right in the opening. To finish it off, I used the Sending Hugs Die-namics and white card stock to make my sentiment.

Handmade card from Kristina Pavlovic featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

My second card today is a flop card, though I decided to make it just a little bit different. On the base of the card I glued patterned paper from the Rainbow Stripes Paper Pack and then I used the Flop Card – Heart Die-namics and my die-cutting machine to create the panel. On the front side I also added the stitched heart and stamped my sentiment with red ink.

On some white card stock, I stamped images from the Otterly Love You stamp set, colored them with alcohol markers, and then cut them out with the coordinating Die-namics so I could adhere them on the front panel with some foam tape for some added dimension.

Handmade card from Kristina Pavlovic featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

For the rest of the story, you need to “dive in” to the card. The waves are also from the Otterly Love You Die-namics. I have inked them with distress inks and an ink blending tool, and then randomly sprayed them with water. With a small brush, I splashed the same color ink above the waves so I can get the look of the water drops.

After all that, I added the otter jumping out of the water! It’s a very happy otter right now and it’s showing us just how much it enjoys those lovely words on the front panel. For the background, I cut a couple of clouds with the Sweet Sloths Die-namics. The little red heart is from the Stitched Heart Grid Die-namics. The little heart and all of the images on the inside I have colored with my alcohol markers.

Handmade card from Kristina Pavlovic featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Kitchy Kitchen and You Bake Me Happy are incredible sets that coordinate so well! I couldn’t resist the idea of making a little kitchen scene. I started out with a piece of aquarelle paper, and inked the whole panel with distress inks and a mini ink blending tool. The table and the shelf, as well as all the rest of the shapes, are die cut with the Kitschy Kitchen Die-namics and colored with alcohol markers.

I put a tablecloth on the table, which I made with Stitched Basic Edges 2, Stitched Scallop Basic Edges 2, and patterned paper from Sweet Celebration. All of the elements on the card are stamped with Tropical Teal Premium Dye Ink and colored with alcohol markers. The little “sugar” label, spoon and whisk are stamped with Versamark ink and then embossed with Silver Detail Embossing Powder.

To tie everything together I mixed words from Kitschy Kitchen and You Bake Me Happy to create a unique sentiment stamped in black ink. To create dimension, some of the elements on the card are attached with Scor-Tape and some with foam mounting tape.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these projects and have been inspired to create your own cards using the same products. Thanks for stopping by! And HUGE THANKS to the awesome people over at MFT for letting me take over today!

Hello MFT fans! Valentine’s Day is around the corner, and I’m happy to share three love-themed cards with you. Today, I’m showcasing the super cute Hog Heaven stamp set along with some of my favorite Die-namics.

My first card is a fun magic slider. I started by die cutting two white panels with Blueprints 28 (one for the main card panel and the other to build the hidden channel inside.) With the paper trimmer, I removed the inner flap and the semi circle notch on both pieces. Then I trimmed down another card stock panel and acetate to 4″ x 5 1/4″. At this point, I had to decide whether to make a simple scene that didn’t require a masking technique or a more complicated one that did. I wanted to challenge myself so I created a scene that took some time and effort.

I stamped all the images on masking paper and fussy cut them. I also decided to add clouds to the background so I die cut the masking paper with the In the Clouds Die-namics. Using the MISTI, I placed my trimmed paper flush to a corner and stamped my images. I stamped the hog with the heart first using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink and then I laid the acetate carefully on top of the paper and stamped the hog, this time using Stazon. After, I removed the acetate from the MISTI, I masked the hog with the heart and stamped the other two hogs. Please note: I changed the cupcakes by blocking the cherry on top with masking tape and stamped the hearts from Sweet Succulents instead (I did this to all the cupcakes on my cards.) I followed the same steps as before making sure to mask the acetate as well. The same process was used for the heart balloon from Adorable Elephants stamp set. For the strings on the balloons I drew the lines in with a thin sharpie on the paper as well the acetate, making sure to line them up carefully. After the ink was fully dried, I colored the images with Copic markers.

To create the background, I placed the main card panel on top of the trimmed paper with the colored images. I covered the images with masking paper that was fussy cut before. I also adhered the clouds that were cut from masking paper. Using my blending tool, I applied Distress Ink in Twisted Citron on the bottom and blended my way to the top of the card using Stormy Skies. Afterwards, I removed the cloud masks and went over it lightly with Stormy Skies. When everything was completely dry, I stamped the sentiment using Versamark Ink and heat embossed it red.

To assemble the card I adhered the trimmed paper with the colored images to the card base. On top of that, I attached the channel that was cut previously with Blueprints 28. Before adhering the hidden channel, I made sure to trim a little off every side and remove the top strip to create a rectangle U shape. This allows for the white card stock that I trimmed to 4 3/4 x 2 3/4 to slide in and out of the card, revealing or hiding the colored images. I was very happy with the way the card turned out and I think it was time well spent. I hope you like it too.

My next card was very simple to make (at least compared to my previous card) but I think it still makes a cute Valentine’s Day card.

First, I used my paper trimmer to cut white card stock down to  4″x 5 1/4″. I stamped my images from the Hog Heaven stamp set using the Black Licorice Hybrid Ink. I used the masking technique for the balloons and the little heart on the cupcake. When the ink was fully dried, I colored the images with Copic markers. I added the sentiment using Versamark Ink and heat embossed it black. Then, I covered all the images with the masking paper I used with  my previous card. With a blending tool, I applied Distress Ink in Twisted Citron. Next, I added droplets of water to the background. When dry, I removed the masking paper and adhered the panel to the card base. Finally, I added Glossy Accents to all the hearts for shine and dimension.

For the front panel I used the Blueprints 28 and die cut 2 panels from the Lucky Prints Paper Pack. On one of the die cuts, I added double sided foam tape around the edges and adhered it to the back panel. I didn’t want the inside of the flap to be white so I took the other die cut paper, trimmed off the flap, and attached it to the white flap. I kept the front of the card as-is because I thought the patterned paper was more than enough. I just adore the peek-a-boo aspect of this card.

My last card is one of my favorite styles to make. I love to create little scenes in each rectangle and lots of MFT stamp sets are perfect for that.

I stamped the images from Hog Heaven and the heart balloons from Adorable Elephants using Black Licorice Hybrid Ink on white card stock. Note: Besides giving the cupcakes hearts again, I used the masking technique to put the two cupcakes inside the wooden trough. In addition, I drew a little envelope for the bottom left hog to hold.

Using the Gift Box Cover-Up Die-namics (in my opinion a must have,) I die cut white card stock. Whenever I’m working with distress inks, I prefer to use Bristol papers because the inks go on very smoothly. I applied Spun Sugar Distress Ink to the main frame, added foam tape around the borders, and adhered it to the card base. Then, I took the four stitched rectangles and applied Twisted Citron, Spun Sugar, and Picked Raspberry. Next, I placed them inside the main frame. I used foam tape behind the colored images and adhered them inside each rectangle to create my little scenes.

I placed the sentiment inside the card with the little hog angel. I couldn’t leave him out of the card – he was too adorable!

Here’s another look at the three cards together:

We’re fortunate to have Brianna Loeffelbein back one more time as one of our January guest designers. Let’s check out the fun cards she’s created for her post today! They’re a HOOT!

Brianna

This post is bittersweet for me. I’m so sad my time as guest designer is up here at the My Favorite Things blog. I want to say a huge thank you to MFT for having me these past couple weeks. I’ve had an absolute blast.  I have saved the best for last — at least I think so!

Anyone who knows me knows my obsession with owls — even my blog features owls in its design. I couldn’t decide on just one owl for this card, so I decided to use “owl” of the owls from the I’m Owl Yours stamp set and create my own background. I colored them in pastel colors using Copic markers. I wanted my sentiment to stand out, so I popped it on top of a pastel heart layer that I created using the Stitched Heart Grid Die-namics. I normally don’t keep cards for myself, but I think this one will be added to my craft room shelf because I love it so much!

For my second card, I mixed and matched stamps from the I’m Owl Yours stamp set and the branch from the Harvest Buddies stamp set to create my little scene. I decided to do a little no-line coloring to give my images a softer look. I used the Abstract Heart Die-namics to create a shaker card, and then popped the images up on foam tape. To create the cloud background, I used some pink chalk. You could easily switch up the sentiment on this card and turn it into a Valentine’s Day card.

Thank you so much for letting me share my projects this month! It’s been such a pleasure.
