Thinking of You

We’re always happy to welcome our dear friend Amy to the blog. Today, she’s sharing a Birdie Brown look punctuated by lots of gorgeous distressing thanks to her collection of Oxide Inks!

Hello everyone! AmyR here with a card using some of the new May MFT stamps and Die-namics. I couldn’t resist the Birdie Brown Mermazing set, and decided to create a fun beach scene for my little mermaid with the Beach Scene Builder Die-namics.

Since I’m currently obsessed with the Distress Oxide inks I decided to do ALL the colouring on this card with these inks! I stamped the mermaid and the rock onto some Bristol Smooth card stock with MFT’s Black Licorice Hybrid Ink, then “smushed” various Distress Oxide inks onto a palette and picked them up with a water brush and coloured in the images that way.

After colouring them in I die cut them with the coordinating Mermazing Die-namics.

For the beach scene, I die cut the base pieces of water and sand then die cut them a second time with the largest Wonky Stitched Circle Die-namics. I die cut the top, or sky part, from another piece of card stock and the same circle die. I then sponged all the different pieces with various Distress Oxide inks. Once everything was sponged with color, I splattered all the pieces with water and picked it up with a paper towel.

The sentiment on the front of the card is from a previous Birdie Brown set – Polar Bear Pals. I thought it was perfect for the scene I’d created on the front of the card!

I finished off the inside of the card using several underwater images from the Mermazing set that I stamped with the Distress Oxide inks, then added a sentiment from the Mermazing set and that was it!
