WSC – Holiday Gifts in a Jiffy (Lip Balm Tutorial)
Hi all! Welcome to another edition of Wednesday Stamp Club!
This week, we are all about Holiday Gifts in a Jiffy. I needed some small, stylish gifts for friends, family and teachers, and here’s what I came up with:
This is one completed gift…
and here is all 8!
I started with the Simply Spring Stripes DIGI Paper Collection, and printed the pattern out on both sides of the paper. Then, I printed the Holiday Treat Box template on the paper as well, and cut and scored as directed.
I stamped the penguin from Cool Yule and then masked him and added the ice cube. (If you don’t already own Cool Yule, we are offering the set FREE with orders over $100 through Friday, December 18th. Simple list COOL YULE in the comments section of your order. You must list COOL YULE or it will NOT be added.)
Since I wanted these to be special, personalized little gifts but also wanted to make it easy on my schedule and my budget, I decided to make little Lip Balms using the Lip Balm Kit.
Here is my beeswax in the top of my double boiler. If you don’t have an actual double boiler, nest two pots inside each other, filling the bottom pot with water.
A close up of coconut oil with my spoon inside, ready to scoop into my measuring cup.
I’ve combined the coconut oil with the beeswax in my double boiler.
My beeswax and coconut oil are all melty, and I’m ready to add my Peppermint Essential Oil. Please make sure you are using an essential oil that is skin SAFE. Seriously.
To fill your tins, lay them flat and spoon the melted wax/oil into each one. These tin containers get VERY HOT, so DO NOT hold them to fill. The Lip Balm kit makes enough for 8 containers, but if you’d like them a little creamier (and want to save some beeswax for refills) feel free to add more coconut oil and less besswax. The recipe is just a guide.
Here is a pic of all 8 gifts! So simple and SO STINKIN’ CUTE!
To personalize each Lip Balm, I used a 1/2 strip of the Simply Spring Striped Paper to wrap around the tin and then punched a 1 1/4″ circle of the same paper and adhered it to the tin lid top. I used AlphaDOTS to personalize each tin so they would have something special, made just for them! You know there are some sets you just find yourself reaching for constantly? That’s the way it is for me with AlphaDOTS. It’s so versatile!
Wouldn’t you LOVE to receive one of these?? I know I would! And I might just have to save one…for personal use, ykwim? :0)
