Yikes…it's a birthday!

And a BIG one at that!  The glorious part of turning 40 this year is that alot of my oldest and dearest friends are also turning the big 4 – 0 so I get to taunt them as ruthlessly as they’ve taunted me.  This card is for my best friend of over 25 years as she turns 40 in a few days.  I followed the sketch challenge on SCS this week, Cindy always creates something new and clever!  I thought it would be funny to imagine the girl on the chair saying YIKES in response to her friends upcoming birthday, so I created a speech bubble!  I hope she finds it amusing!

Let's try this again…

YAY!  I got my photo to look the way it’s supposed to!  I got this fancy ribbon from Jody’s ribbon share and couldn’t wait to use it!  It’s so sweet and fuzzy, I love it.

Also, I wanted to mention, if you ever wanted to stock up on TCP stuff, it’s a GREAT time as my BSF Alma is having a sale!

MFT is also having a paper sale as well, which will run until Aug 5th to make room for the new CHA stuff I can’t wait to get in!  See the post below (yeah, I know the pic is the same) for deets.

Lastly, this card was made for the 40th MFT Sketch Challenge…can you believe it’s that high??  CIndy is giving away an MFT set, so play along!

Well, let’s pretend I know why my photo has a special *effect* and just move on, shall we?  See, some of my personal idols are also Mac lovers, and I  too have now joined the family.  Unfortunately, I had never touched a key on a mac prior to last week, and am still very much learning!  Let’s leave it at that.

I had THE most wonderful time at CHA, and per my usual, failed to take ONE single picture!  WHY????  Sigh…  Suffice it to say, I had a wonderful time meeting new friends and reuniting with beloved ones, and truly laughed so hard my abs still hurt!

I met Gina K. and Nichole Heady for the first time, and was completely star struck of course, and got to hang with Em and Nicky from Stamping Bella and my BSF Alma from The Cat’s Pajamas.  There were a million of us from the design team, and to them I say BLBLBLBLBLBLBLBL.  (Yeah, it’s an inside thing…)

BTW – I ordered some cool new paper at CHA so am clearing out the old to make room for the new!  From now until Aug 5th, all paper and goodies from Petaloo, Rubber Soul and Memory Box are 20% off!  You MUST enter the code CHASummer08 to receive the discount.  Enter the code and save 20%, that’s worth the typing, right?

Well, instead of packing this afternoon, I took some time to make a card for someone very special to me that I’ll be seeing TOMORROW!!!!  I won’t spoil the surprise in case she’s watching…

I am off to Chicago for the summer CHA show, where I’ll be connecting with a whole BUNCH of people I can’t wait to see again, and even a few I will get to meet for the first time!  I am BEYOND excited!  Not to name drop or anything, but I am very excited to meet Gina K. and Nichole Heady, as well as Natalie Dever (dougnat).  I am thrilled beyond belief to spend more time with Em and Nicky from Stamping Bella, especially w/o having to work the booth!  There are a bunch MFT’ers going, and the usual suspects I can’t wait to see, but of course have not packed a stitch as of this post….sigh.

I will check in soon with lots of fun pics of all the gang, and fill you in on all the stuff that we will HAVE to have as soon as it’s released!

Hugs,

Kim

Be Calm Journal

Hi all!  I have a little project to share today!  I picked up a couple of clearance journals  (seriously, $1.00!) at my local book store because I thought they’d be cute to alter.  My niece and I both journal, (of, so I’m a wanna be journaler…but with something this nice, I’m sure to stick with it!) so I thought to surprise her with a custom journal for her birthday.  I made the two journals identical with only the initial changed, and think it turned out splendidly.  This was such an easy project!  I was surprised!  The one thing I did that I thought was quite clever was to create the altering aspect as a band that could slide off and be used with other journals as this one ran out of pages.  The rest is pretty straightforward…

Don’t forget!  There’s still time to cash in on the MFT BDAY savings…you have till July 15th!  Make sure to ENTER THE CODE MFT2BDAY to receive your discount!

Gardener Flopsey!

Here he is!!!  You might recognize him from such sets as Hare for the Holidays, Eggstra Special Easter and Hoppy Easter, but now FLOPSEY has more of a starring role in the MFT line-up!  Like I mentioned in my post below, in March, Alma and I were in downtown Boston and stumbled into a tea shop.  There on the shelf sat a trio of bunnies; one on rollerskates, another on a skateboard and one bicycling and then I literally slapped my forehead and yelled “DUH!”!  I am pretty sure the cashier thought I was *special needs* but I just laughed out loud that the character I’d long sought after was right there under my nose!  Well, ain’t that the way life works?

This is the card we used for the make-n-take this weekend at Stampfest Orlando.  It was much busier this year than last, and I was amazed by how many people walked up excited to see us and already knew who we were!  A lot has changed in a year!

I had an amazing Demo artist, Kim Smith, and my oldest daughter Brianna is a total natural when it comes to demo-ing and selling products.  Truly gifted!  Kirsten (ked) drove up Sat to help us teach the class, which was sold-out, and we really had a blast catching up and watching our children *flirt*!

Don’t forget there’s time to enter for blog candy below, and especially don’t forget to join us Wed night for our July release party and BIRTHDAY BASH!

Meanwhile, I’m off to squeeze in my last few days in my thirties….hopefully I’ll remember you all next week!

Now, what’s up with the title you ask???  Well, July 2nd marks our new release AND our 2nd BIRTHDAY!!!!  We’ll be announcing all kinds of fun birthday stuff in our Member Company forum on SCS, so stay tuned!

One of the cool things that July will bring is a CHARACTER!  Uh huh!  Some one/body/bunny new!!!

I have wanted to introduce a character for soooooooo long, and the development of this one was truly one of those head-slappin’ DUH moments.

I started thinking about it late last year, since as most of you know I am in love with Sprinkle and Poochie from TCP.  Think, think, think….It had to be something no one else had……it had to have personality and be able to be in different situations/acting in different roles…had to be something Christy Beckwith would enjoy drawing….think, think, think…then in March, while Alma and I were touring Boston we wandered into a tea shop and BAM!  Just like lightening!  The idea was there!

I won’t spoil the surprise just yet, especially since MFTeasers will begin on Monday!

But, to start the celebration RIGHT, let’s have another round of blog candy, playing for ALL the July releases!!!!  And if you liked June’s, I promise you will LOVE July’s!!!!!

Leave a comment below and I will select a winner next Wed. morning!
