Hey Chica! You won!

Hey Chica! Is the name of the first set in our new stamp line called BC Dzyns. Illustrated by Chesney Young, and brought into conception by my daughter Brianna (with help and guidance from mom). Everything about the new set and the line are fresh and funky, with plenty of ‘tude!  I hope you will take a peek at what the DT is doing with this set, I am beyond impressed!  Some of the regular MFT Team members were given the set, as well a newcomer or two, so keep an eye on our gallery at SCS for MFTeasers!  We even have a ROCKSTAR Special Guest Designer!  I am totally pinching myself!  Click the link, cause you won’t believe it until you see it for yourself!

I wanted to show you a close up of the necklace I made using goodies from our Box of Bling.  I strung some small seed beads and tied it behind to image to make a choker.  I was pretty impressed!  I also used papers from our newest paper pack, Chillin’ 1, to show that these are not just limited to seasonal cards.

Next up is our Treat Winner!!!  Lisa Baggett, email me at kim@mftstamps.com with your addy! Congrats!!

For this project, I used one of the new Annie LaPoint images, Rosemary, in a non-traditional way.  Carole B. posted a DD project in last months gallery that started the old wheel a turnin.  You can see it in the DD gallery for August.  BUT you have to be a fan club member.  Of course, since you are ALL SCS fan club members, I know you’ll rush right over and check out her Annie LaPoint bathroom trilogy!

I first painted (well, hubby really) the base of the wooden plaque white, and then stamped the Rosemary in Brilliance.  I gave it plenty of dry time before coloring it in with Walnut Hollow Oil Color Pencils I picked up at Michael’s.  I was able to color on the painted wood pretty easily using them, so feel they were worth the small investment.  I then coated the edge of the plaque with Distress Paint in Shabby Shutters and then lightly sponged Antique Lace on the edges with Distress Ink to add depth and age it a bit.  This will be a Christmas gift to some dear friends of ours and will match their guest bathroom just perfectly!

With the holidays, and a not-so-certain economy, I think it makes sense to find new ways to use both the supplies you have and (truth be told) help you justify some new ones!  With the Annie LaPoint’s, it’s super simple to create a kitchen or bathroom trio of plaques or personalize a gift of herbs for an avid gardener or cook.  There are so many things we can do with our papercrafting supplies in addition to handmade cards, I’m going to be exploring many ideas myself as I gear up for a low key Christmas.  Hope you’ll post your ideas here as well!

DON’T FORGET!  Our new release COCKTAIL party is on Wed night!  Click here to find out more, and we hope to see you there!

Are you ready for some new releases??

Well I am too!  I am about to bust to show off our new stuff, and can hardly wait till next Wed!  In the meantime, I started a little contest in our SCS forum to win a $25 gift cert AND the post below this one a some delish MFTreat, so be sure to enter to win!

I wrote a little poem to start whetting your appetite for new sets, I’ve done it in the past, and maybe it’ll become a tradition.  I thought I would share it here with all of you!

Who’s That Girl is exhausted from Holiday stress, she needs to Chill Out, with a ‘tini no less.

A strong Scarecrow keeps sweet little owls from demise, while Flopsey, in costume, is sure to surprise!

Parsley, Sage, well Rosemary at least, will help you Branch Out with a seasonal feast.

Then comes Hey Chica!, to add ‘tude to the mix, and that wraps up it up, your Sept fix!

As for the card, it’s a super simple birthday card that follows the sketch challenge  this week, hope you can play along.  It’ll kill some time until the release, AND help you get ready for the party Wed night!  Even better, there’s a prize up for grabs!  One winner will be selected from all who participate, so stay tuned!

Off to school…

She’s not a baby anymore… No, she’s a backpack lugging, lunchbox toting, clothes wearing BIG GIRL. Where did it go?  The time between nursing, crinkled nose, dependent newborn and the pre-school attending whole person who stood at the door this morning?  I wish I knew.  I wish I could pause time for just a bit, just long enough to do the laundry, the dishes AND play a game of let’s pretend. Long enough to burn into memory her laugh, her voice and the feel of her tiny hands.  How about you??

Happy birthday baby!

Happy Birthday Handsome!  My hubby turned 40 yesterday, and while this is not a traditional birthday card, I created it as an ode to my favorite photograph of his, Windham Moose (look under Nature).  I don’t know what it is about that photo, but it gets me every time.  Sigh, it’s just moving, ykwim?

What you might not know (although I’ve said it before, and it bears worth repeating) is that I’ve got the best hubby in the world.  Period.  Bar none.  Yes, he’s a great hubby, a great father, (he’s way easy on the eyes), the perfect blend of all man and sensitivity…blah, blah, blah.  But he’s also the kind of man who listens and tries to make my dreams come true.  Last month, for my 40th birthday, he planned a surprise party.  OK, so that in itself is a huge undertaking, but he of course took it one step further by contacting all of my family, friends, dt members, and my BSF to create a page for me, sharing their favorite memories/thoughts/stories of me.  There are dozens of pages in this book that he presented to me at the party, and as someone who has a hard time crying in front of people, let’s just know I balled like a baby.  Who wouldn’t?  I love you Handsome!  Happy birthday!

The card also follows this weeks sketch challenge, which moves to Thursday this coming week, so you still have time to get in on the action!

And last, but not least, we are saying goodbye to some of our older MFT sets, they are in limited quantity AND on sale until they are sold out.  If you are interested in finding out more deets, check out this thread.  In addition, the VACATION discount code still runs through Aug 25th, so be sure to take advantage!

And the winner is…

#59, Kathy Hering!  Email me at kim@mftstamps.com with your addy, and I will put it in the mail as soon as I get back from the beach!

Now…about the card…you’ll notice there are a couple of images you’ve not seen in our line-up…as of yet!  If you have ever spent time with with me outside the family, you know I am a LOVER of Appletini’s…good ones, bad ones, ALL of them!  Now what kind of Christmas would go without an Appletini in the mix?  Not one from us, I assure you!  Look for this image (with a little holiday bling) during our Sept. release.

Speaking of bling…sometime late this year, MFT will be introducing it’s very own alphabet!  How exciting!  Jen del Muro came up with the idea, and Christy and I went to executing it immediately.  It’s been a bit of a technical challenge, but that’s what we love.  Creating something that’s never been done in the stamp world, and this bling alphabet fits the bill.  It’s designed to work with 4 mm crystals, which we’ll carry as well when the set is introduced.  I am showing it today only because it’s Jen’s birthday tomorrow, and I had to feature her alphabet!

So, since I’ve given you a little peak into September, I’m going to tease you just a bit more!  So what does a Mom, who owns a stamp company, do when her teenager needs a job?  She creates one of course!  September will bring the release of a brand new line, featuring illustrations by Chesney Young and sentiments by Brianna (and her mom, me!)!  I can’t wait till you see the set, and all the sassy, fresh ‘tude it imparts!

Now that I’ve teased away, what about some candy to ease the pain???  What about you receive BOTH of the Sept. preview sets I’ve talked about in this post, Hey Chica! and Merry Christmas?????

Leave a numbered post and I will pick a winner next Monday when we’re back from the beach!!

One of the perks…

of being in the biz, is receiving all kinds of handmade love.  So, starting now, I am going to post all the good stuff that finds its way into my mailbox!  I might even show you some oldies but goodies as well.  I don’t know why I am just thinking of this, I should have started long ago.

This was sent to me yesterday from Melanie Muenchinger featuring her new set from Gina K. Designs.  Isn’t it the cutest!  I love it!  It’s the sweetest thing ever!

After meeting both Gina K. and Nichole at CHA (I’d already met and fell in love with Em…and Alma is my well publicized BSF), I have to say that I am in the best industry in the world! (Probably because it’s estrogen dominated)

There is such an open exchange of information, and a sense of being looked out after, that I am positive does not occur in other industries.

I recently had a situation that I felt I needed some guidance with, and Nichole took some serious time out of her day to help me.  Like she has spare time!  I can’t begin to thank her enough, she is simply amazing!

Gina and I just feel like we’ve known each other for such a long time, we can be both serious and silly, and most often within seconds.  She’s always there to lend an ear and offer pearls of wisdom, and it is so appreciated!

Em has got the biggest personality!  She is just the coolest sistah! And my dear Alma…I just {heart} her!

I’m off to get a massage…it’s a rough life, huh??

But while I’m gone…about a little MFTREAT!!!  How about the new Monster Squad set AND What’s the Story? Flopsey?????

Leave a numbered post and I’ll pull a winner Tuesday morning!

Get Spooked!

Hi all! I wanted to share one last project with you before tomorrow’s release party on SCS.  used all sorts of new products on this, all of which will be ready for tomorrow night.

I started creating this with a Flap Book, a series of pre-scored, pre-cut papers which easily assemble into a little flap book ready for you to customize.  There are two in each packet, one black and one white, which retail for $4.95!

I also used some new paper we will be carrying, which has been hand selected and cut into 6 x 6 paper pads especially for My Favorite Things.  There will be limited quantities of the first two packs, Spooky 1 (single sided) and Spooky 2 (double sided).  This project features Spooky 2.

We also are releasing a series of 5 ribbons, again coordinated to work with the Spooky paper collections, each of which offer 25 yards on a roll and retail for $6.95!  You can’t beat that with a broomstick!  (Just some Halloween fun…humor me)  All are superb quality and just adorable!

We will soon be offering some Holiday papers and ribbons as well as some super cute *bling*!  I hope you enjoy!

We’d like to thank Christina Fisher for joining us this month as our favorite Guest, and her projects have been amazing!  What a joy!
