Check Your List Twice with This Christmas Planner

Did you remember to buy that scarf for your mother-in-law? How much vanilla was in that cookie recipe? And which day is the big gift exchange?

There are so many things to keep organized during the holidays, even the most efficient person could use a little bit of help. Spread some cheer as you check off your to-do list with this Christmas Planner!

CP1

This tutorial was created by Inge, one of our design team members, to help keep you rocking around the Christmas tree without forgetting a thing.

CP4

To start, cut two pieces of Primitive White Card Stock measuring 10 1/4” x 6 1/8”. Score both pieces at 4 3/4”- 5 1/2”.

CP6

Attach the pieces of card stock together in the middle using Scor-Tape.

CP7

Remove the front page of the notebook and cover the top of the pad with a small piece of Jellybean Green Card Stock. Wrap a length of Hemp Cord across the top of the notepad.  Then, attach the notebook to the base of Primitive White Card Stock.

CP8

Adhere one Kraft envelope to each side of the note pad. You’ll be able to use these to keep receipts, notes, recipe cards, and more!

CP9

Cut two pieces of Red Hot Card Stock measuring 5 3/4” x 1 1/2” and two pieces of Primitive White Card Stock measuring 5 3/4” x 1 1/4”.

CP10

Stamp the Textile Backgrounds with Jellybean Green Ink onto the strips of the Primitive White card stock and adhere onto the envelope. Stamp Hearts and Stitches using Hot Fudge Ink onto the flaps of the envelope. Punch four circles of Jellybean Green Card Stock using the ¾” punch.  Glue them on the envelopes and attach a brad through the center of each.  Create a closure using a bit of Hemp Cord and secure a bow.

CP3

Die-cut the Insert It – 3”x 4” from Sweet Tooth Card Stock seven times. Stamp the Journal It – Top Ten using Black Licorice Ink onto each of the die-cuts. Stamp titles using Document It – December with Red Hot and Jellybean Green Ink. Add coordinating matting using Red Hot and Jellybean Green Card Stock measuring 3 1/6” x 4 1/16”.

CP11

Add a burst of holiday cheer by decorating the front cover of the planner using Steel Blue Card Stock measuring 4 1/2”x 5 3/4”, Red Hot Card Stock measuring 4 1/4” x 5 1/2”, and Kraft Card Stock measuring 4” x 5 1/4”. Stamp the Sheet Music Background using Kraft Ink onto Kraft Card Stock. Die-cut the Insert It – 3”x 4” Insert from Sweet Tooth Card Stock and stamp Journal It – Top Ten using Black Licorice Ink.  Stamp “Christmas” using Jellybean Green Ink and create a mat for the 3×4 Insert using Jellybean Green Card Stock measuring 3 1/6” x 4 1/16”, and glue on the front. Die-cut the Poinsettia Die-namics flower from Red Hot Card Stock and the leaves from Jellybean Green Card Stock. Embellish the flower with a button, tied with a bit of Hemp Cord. Adhere the flower and a sentiment tag to the planner. Main-image-COD-Blast-Specs- You’re all done! And with plenty of time to start making your list for the holidays. These cheery planners also make the perfect gift for friends and family feeling the holiday rush. Santa will be jealous that he doesn’t have one for his list, too! What do you plan on using your planner for this season?

Learn to Create a Loopy Bloom Tree

Charming and unique holiday decorations help to give your home a cozy charm during the winter months. Making these decorations by hand rather than buying them from a store gives an even more personal touch, and gives you a holiday item that you will want to pass down from generation to generation. Debbie’s Loopy Bloom Tree is one of our favorite holiday projects, and today we have a fabulous step-by-step tutorial for you. You’ll start with a paper mâché cone from a local craft store as your base. The cone in our example is 11″ tall, with a 3 3/4″ diameter base. The tutorial below is based on this size, but you can easily adjust the supplies to work with different sized cones. LBT1 Let’s get started with the cutting.
  • Die-cut 20 Loopy Blooms from Jellybean Green Card Stock or Jellybean Green felt.
  • Die-cut 16 ornaments from Smooth White Card Stock (four of each shape) and 16 ornament toppers from Kraft Card Stock.
  • Die-cut 6 mini tags from Kraft Card Stock and six mini tags from Smooth White Card Stock.
  • Die-cut 12 small poinsettias from Electric Red Card Stock.
  • Die-cut 2 of the second largest Star STAX from Smooth White Card Stock.
LBT2 Now we are ready to assemble the tree. Cut each Loopy Bloom die cut in half, lengthwise. Using a thin paint brush or paper piercer, curl the bottom edge of the Loopy Blooms upward. LBT3 Hot glue a length of Jellybean Green Grosgrain Ribbon along the bottom edge of the paper mâché cone. LBT4 Apply a bead of hot glue above the ribbon and begin to adhere the curled Loopy Bloom halves. Glue the Loopy Blooms row by row.  Do not overlap the Loopy Blooms within each row, trim die cuts as needed using scissors.  Glue each successive row of Loopy Blooms directly above the previous row.  Continue in this manner until you are ½” from the top of the cone. LBT5 Push a pin through the top of the cone and hot glue a small piece of Jellybean Green Grosgrain Ribbon around the top of the cone. LBT6 Stamp and embellish the ornaments as desired using images from the Christmas Ornaments Stamp Set, clear rhinestones, and MIX-ables Glitter Glaze.  Glue an ornament topper to each ornament and add a small hemp bow. Stamp small, festive words on the mini tags and adhere a tiny rhinestone to each tag.  Then adhere a rhinestone to the center of each small poinsettia. LBT7 Score each Star STAX die cut from each point straight across the star. Fold the stars on the score lines to form a three-dimensional star. Spray stars with MIX-ables Sheer Shimmer Mist and let the starts dry. LBT8 Stack several foam squares together and glue them to the center of the back of one of the stars. Push a pin through center of your stack of foam squares. Remove the liner from the top foam square and apply a small amount of liquid adhesive to the back of the points of the other star. Line the two stars up and glue them together.  Apply a bit of pressure to the points until the glue dries. LBT9 “Trim” your tree by adhering the ornaments, tags, and poinsettias to the tree as desired using a hot glue gun. Gently insert the star assembly into the top of the tree. LBT10 Now it’s your turn! Put your own special touches on your tree and proudly display it for holiday guests to rave about! We can’t wait to see the Loopy Bloom Trees that you create. Be sure to show us your Loopy Bloom Trees on our Facebook page.

We Have a HOT Idea for a Handcrafted Holiday Gift

Looking to give a unique, handcrafted gift this holiday season? Kim O’Connell is back with us again today to show you how to create a gorgeous hand-stamped candle in a few simple steps. KO-candle
  • Cut a piece of tissue paper slightly smaller than your candle and stamp an image on it.
  • Color the stamped image as desired with Copic markers.
  • Wrap the tissue paper around the candle.
  • Cut a piece of wax paper long enough to wrap it around the candle while still being able to hold on to the ends.
  • Wrap the wax paper tightly around the candle and use a heat tool to melt the tissue paper into the candle. Move the heat tool back and forth in a steady motion. As soon as the tissue paper starts to melt into the candle, move on to the next section. Repeat this step until all the tissue paper is melted on the surface of the candle.
