WSC – A Trio of Ribbons (06.30.2010)

Happy Wednesday!  This weeks challenge was truly a challenge for me, and I even had to call in reinforcements for how to work it in!  We are creating a project using 3 different types of ribbons.

I decided to make a 3 x 3″ Treat Box featuring Bunch of Bots and the Robot DIGI Papers.

I cut a 2.875″ x 2.875″ piece of paper and then using a glue dot placed 4 pieces of chocolate on the sheet and slipped it inside the 3″ x 3″ box.  I then used a frame (hint…hint…) to stamp one of the Robots in the set and then used a rectangle punch to remove a small area so I could then add a small strip of paper that I stamped one of the sentiments from the set onto and then placed it in the opening so it appears that it is “feeding” out from the opening.  The idea isn’t original to me, but i still {heart} it!  Boy it’s the little things that makes a crafter happy, huh?

I added some additional embellishments like Baby Braddies and of course the three ribbons needed for this weeks Wednesday Stamp Club!

FREEZE Frame – Cruising Cosmo Girl & Banner Day Alpha

Happy Monday!  I am SHOCKED that this past month has flown by and that another release is around the corner.  But even more exciting than this upcoming July 7th release is that it is also MFT’s 4th BIRTHDAY!!!!  I can’t begin to tell you how excited and blessed we feel, and have some fun things in store ALL month long!

While the news will be saved until next week, what I can share today is a FREEZE Frame of two new sets that will be debuting on July 7th; Cruising Cosmo Girl and Banner Day Alphabet.

Cruising Cosmo Girl has THE most amazing car ever, a MINI COOPER S.  Hmmm…wonder why?  It’s no secret that I {heart} my MINI almost more than should be legal or ethical.  So when it was time for Cosmo Girl to hit the town, there was only one set of wheels for her!  She comes with 5 sentiment options and an accessory image as well.

I can’t wait until Teasers start on Saturday so you can see all the amazing ways the Design Team has used this set!

It’s perfect for new cars, shopping, and, with the keys in her hand, Cosmo Girl could be stepping into a new home…so many fun possibilities!

Banner Day Alphabet is the perfect clean font for use in all your projects, and what’s more is that there is an ADDITIONAL product you’ll NEED this alphabet for.  Can you guess what it is?  Hint….think Die-namics….

While I’ve got you pondering all of the possibilities for these two, I know you’ll be anxiously awaiting tomorrow’s next batch of FREEZE Frames!

Fab Friend Lori Craig!

I’m feeling fancy again this week, having Lori Craig join us as this weeks Fabulous Friend!!!  Lori is a dear, and I love spending every minute I can with her.  Some people just make you smile, ykwim?

While I am DYING to show off Lori’s amazing project, first, let’s get nosy!

What is your signature move?  Is there one style or technique that seems to adorn your every creation?
Couple of things that seem to work their way into many of my projects. First, I love twine, and I use it a LOT. I think it keeps things from looking too fussy and formal, and I like that relaxed look. I have several different colors that I use. Frequently, I’ll wrap a card (or in this case a box) with a little bow, or I’ll use it to knot a button in place or hang a tag. The way I use the twine most often is with a small stack of big white paper flowers and a button.

My second signature move would be coloring. I color almost everything, which makes creating with MFT line art much fun. :)

What’s your favorite MFT set and why?
Favorite? For sure, I love the Pure Innocence girls. I think Best Medicine is probably my favorite of that collection. I love her uniform and the sentiment, ‘Friendship is the best medicine’. It rings so true. Friendship can cure many so many of our blue thoughts.

I also love the Jolinne – Sweet Spring set. It reminds me of my oldest daughter who would rather be dancing than anything else in the world.

What do you hoard?
I’d like to think that I’m better about hoarding now than I used to be. I’ve come to realize after card making for so many years that ‘in’ styles and accessories, come and go. If I don’t use it when I find it and buy it, I never will. That said, I’m still pretty stingy with all of those beautiful, fancy paper-crafty flowers.

Now, make sure you’ve got some tissue handy and nothing in your mouth that might cause you to choke when you gasp at the beauty of this…

Lori used Little Loveosaurus and the Fresh Cut Grass Die-namics to create this sweet little box.

Cool Copic effect on his Dino skin, huh?  LOVE it!!!  Please make sure you stop by Lori’s BLOG and leave her some love for this amazing project she shared with all of us!

Friday Feature – MFT Kits

Happy Friday all!!!

As you know, the January 2010 was our last MFT Kit.  We’ve simply been too busy to design more.  Which is a good thing…  :)

I thought since we have a few I Want Candy and Bath Time Kits left, I would offer them at a VERY special price this weekend.  How special?  How about a 40% savings!

There are a handful of each left, so if you are looking for a summer project, or a gift for a stamping buddy, these Kits can be yours for $15 each!

The product descriptions will give you all the goodies contained in each Kit, but here are some pictures of exactly what you can create using them.

Isn’t this sweet!!!  And just in time for party season and summer gift needs!

Have a great, safe weekend and I’ll be back Monday with a new Fab Friend!

WSC – Creating with Cork or Felt & a Tutorial

Happy Wednesday!  For this weeks Wednesday Stamp Club we are creating with cork and/or felt.  Here’s my project using cork as a main panel instead of just an element.  I also used several Die-namics dies…can you tell how many? It’s kind of a trick question… :P

I stamped a tree from Grow Love onto a Sweet Tooth panel cut with a nestie and also onto a scrap of patterned paper.

I have only recently begun to color using Sweet Tooth and Copics, and the verdict is YIPPEE.  I LOVE it!  It has a bit more tooth than Perfect Paper Panels, which is nice sometimes, and there are many of you who prefer a bit more texture since you’re used to coloring on that type of cardstock.

I must admit I was shocked at first that I liked it so much, and then extremely pleased since it blends so nicely and is also so affordable!  And thirdly, it’s available in 8.5 x 11″ packs. Talk about a paper tri-fecta!

I used the Jumbo Ric Rac Die-namics to cut out a trim piece and then I used the Grosgrain Texture Board to make it match the ribbon texture.

See how deep that impression is?  You have to try the the super thin pad in Embossing Pad Pack.  Seriously.

I then stitched some grosgrain ribbon in a wonky pattern across my Ric Rac shape.

Here’s a close up of the finished tree after coloring, paper piecing and adding a few Glittered Garnishes for good measure.

I wanted to add some dimension under the tree, so once it was colored, including an actual ground for the tree trunk, I cut a Fresh Cut Grass strip and doubled it up so it would appear like a fun grass clump.

Here’s the backside so you can see how I layered it.

Here’s how I created the custom Pearl Flourish.  I happened to have a stencil with several flourish patterns that I laid on top of my cork panel and using a white gel pen, I added dots through the holes so I would know where to place my pearls. If I hadn’t had a stencil, I could have created a pattern with a pencil on white copy paper, or printed one, and then using a paper piercer I could have created the same thing, so a fancy stencil is NOT necessary.

I chose to add pearls but any crystal will also work.  This is definitely a time when the fancy hotfix applicator comes in HANDY!

Once my pattern was down on my cork, I played around with sizes to see what would work best for the flourish I was creating.

Then I put them into place, and viola!  SO stinkin’ cute!  Here’s another trick question… isn’t that the cutest and most perfect little rolled flower?

And here’s another pic of the completed card.
