Oh Baby!

Is it me, or are baby cards the most fun to create project ever?  I was so excited that I had one on my “to-do” list for the newest, tiniest member of my extended family.  I reached for the Baby Onesie Stamp Set and Die-namics and decided that this week’s color challenge for CR84FN was just perfect for what I had in mind.  Armed with an ample scrap bin of papers, and a fresh pack of Whip Cream and Kraft cardstock I started playing around.

Ordinarily I don’t go with ribbon and lacy trims for boy cards, but for a baby boy card, it’s all good.  So I aded a fluffy bow using our Whip Cream Ribbon and a bit of detail using the Dainty Lace Border.

If you have a hard time with bow-tying, you can find a quick how-to video HERE or simply click play below.

Our MFT Ribbon ties such pretty bows, I truly love working with it.

Here’s a close up of the new MFT Buttons (I’m using the Natural ones here)

Here’s a tip, I love to finish of the insides of my cards too.  It’s a perfect handmade touch, and let’s be honest, you’ve always got extra paper scraps laying around when you’re finished, so dig in a little deeper. The stamp set is huge, and has lots of sentiments included, so you’ll have lots of options for both the inside and the outside of the project.  In fact, you can even add a coordinating gift tag!  I stamped it to a nesting set of Oval STAX.  I left myself just a little bit of room for a handwritten note inside.

Thanks for stopping by today. Have a great weekend and we’ll see you again next week!

My Favorite Things Feature Friday: Ring Me

Today I’m playing with a set that isn’t new to My Favorite Things, it’s just that  I hadn’t had a chance to ink it up yet. It’s such a shame when that happens! So, today I’m stamping along with the Ring Me Stamp Set and Die-namics.  I know I’ve mentioned before that the stamp and Die-namics combo simplify your card making, all the elements you really “need” are already included.  (Though, I will often mix in a few other beloved elements too…)  I picked some pretty papers, ink and played around.

You remember these phones right?  I actually don’t think my kids have ever seen one. Sigh…. I can fully remember chatting on my peach princess phone with the long cord.  In fact, remember when you could by the extra long cord so you could freely walk around the house with it?

I prepared a quick little video to show you all the details of this fun set. It shows you how quick and easy it is to build the rotary element, and it will show you how to make this curly cord too.   All the tiny sentiments like “miss you” or “ring ring” will fit in the center of the phone, but today I tucked in a tiny cork heart using the Notched Tag Die-namics. See, it’s fun to mix and match. I highly recommend it. By the way, you’ll see me using my QuickStick in today’s little video. It’s a handy tool, and go figure, we happen to carry it here at My Favorite Things!

You can see the video HERE or simply click play below.

I added the sentiment “Hello, Friend” to the File Tab Die-namics and then used the “cut and recut” technique to get a perfect fit.  You can see how to cut and re-cut in THIS video.

So I hope you’ll join me in digging out a stamp set that you just HAD to have, but maybe haven’t had a chance to work with yet.  (Come on, you know we all have them!) You’ll be so glad you did, and I will too! Be sure to leave me a link on this post to see what you’ve done, or simply upload it to the Splitcoaststampers gallery using the keyword MFT, we’re always over checking out that gallery!

Be Inspired with My Favorite Things: Creative Ideas for Mini-Books

Welcome to the My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Challenge. Each month, we challenge our designer to work within a specific theme, or using a particular technique. This month, we’ve asked our designers to think in miniature and create Mini-Books. Stamps and Die-namics are fabulous for creating these miniature works of art to mark a special event or for gift giving. Here’s a vintage, soft and lovely sample from Mona to inspire you today, but be sure to see below for links to all the designers with samples to share.  And if you get inspired to create a mini-book of your own, be sure to come share it with us in the MFT Forum on Splitcoaststampers we’d love to see what you come up with!
