Let’s Have a Tiki Party
Please join me in welcoming Vanessa Menhorn back to the blog again today.
Hello everyone! It’s Vanessa Menhorn again and I am happy to be back with two more cards using the wonderful August Release. How about a little Tiki Party inspiration? I loved playing with this set and here is the result:
On this card, I wanted to create an interesting, tropical, summery, sunset kind of background. But first, I stamped the palm trees onto a panel of watercolor paper and masked them. Next I applied Distress Ink with an ink blending tool, starting from the top and working to the bottom, always blending the colors when applying a new one. Then I applied little drops of gold spray ink and heat-embossed the “Mahalo” using gold embossing powder. After I had removed the masks, I colored the trees using various grey Copics (because I believed it might look like this during sunset.) I stamped, colored, and die cut the little statues and adhered them with foam tape before attaching the panel to the card base.
And here is another card I made with the Tiki Party set:
Again, I did a lot of masking. I stamped and masked the hibiscus flowers and the leaves, then I applied ink around them and added drops of the same ink with a brush and water. I stamped the “Aloha” and removed the masks. After I had colored the flowers and leaves with Copics, I adhered the panel to the card.
I hope to have inspired you today! Tomorrow I’ll be back with my last cards for the My Favorite Things blog. I’d be so happy if you’d visit again tomorrow. Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
