Happy Halloween Balloons
Please join me in welcoming Vanessa Menhorn to the blog today. She’s got some fabulous tricks up her sleeve with our August Release and today is just the beginning of what she’ll be sharing this month.
Hello everyone! It’s Vanessa Menhorn here and I am thrilled to be a Guest Designer for August on the My Favorite Things blog. This is a little dream come true, because I love these products so much! Today I am sharing two Halloween-themed cards with you, using my favorite techniques: masking and ink blending.
For the first card, I used the super fun Frightfully Fun Halloween stamp set. When I first looked at the set, I couldn’t help but see balloons. So I used the images to create this spooky bouquet of balloons. I stamped and masked the images one after the other, then I inked the background using an ink blending tool and Distress Ink. Next I applied black ink droplets and stamped the sentiment. After I had removed the masks, I colored the balloons using Copics. Finally, I drew strings with a black marker and adhered the panel to a black card base.
My second card was made with the Pure Innocence Mummy set:
The little mummy is just too cute! I stamped it onto a panel of card stock and masked it. Then I masked a rectangle around it and inked it with an ink blending tool and Distress Inks again. I applied various droplets of inks, letting them dry before applying a new color. After I had removed the masks, I colored the image with Copics, stamped the sentiment and adhered the panel to the card base.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my cards today! Thank you for stopping by and thanks to the sweet people from My Favorite Things for having me! I’ll be back with two more posts towards the end of August. Have a beautiful day everybody!
