Chevron Surprise

We have one last guest post from Vanessa Menhorn today – she’s brought us some incredible inspiration this month. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with us, Vanessa.

Hello again! It’s Vanessa Menhorn with my last projects on the My Favorite Things blog. I am thankful that I had the chance to share my cards here, so the two cards I am showing you today are “thank you” cards.

Handmade card from Vanessa Menhorn featuring Scribble Roses and Scribble Roses Overlay from Lisa Johnson Designs.

For the first card, I used the Scribble Roses Overlay Die-namics and the Scribble Roses Die-namics. I started with a panel of watercolor paper and inked the middle portion with Distress Inks and flipped on some water droplets from a brush. Then I die cut the rose bases from it. On top, I adhered the overlays that I die cut from white card stock. It is very difficult to see in the photo, but I stamped and heat-embossed “thanks” from the Encouraging Words set onto the bottom left portion of the panel before attaching it to the card. Next I added the roses using foam tape and some leaves that I had die cut from the white card stock. The card was finished off with some clear sequins.

I have to admit that it took some time to assemble the second card, but I like how it turned out:

Handmade card from Vanessa Menhorn featuring Four Way Chevron Cover-Up Die-namics.

Here I wanted to showcase the Four Way Chevron Cover-Up Die-namics. I masked stripes on a panel of watercolor paper and inked them to create a rainbow. Then I removed the masks and die cut the Cover-Up. Next I die cut the Cover-Up twice from black card stock. I adhered the inked panel to the card and then I layered the chevrons before adhering them, always assembling two black chevrons first with an inked one on top. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from You Have My Heart onto a strip of black card stock and adhered it. To finish the card off, I added sequins matching the colors of the stripes.

Phew. I honestly couldn’t stop myself from creating more projects. If you liked my cards, I would be so pleased if you would hop to my blog to find more detailed photos of these cards plus extra projects I made with the amazing My Favorite Things August Release. Thank you for your sweet comments and thanks again to the lovely folks from My Favorite Things for having me! I enjoyed it immensely!
