WSC Time to hit the books! (08.18.2010)

Happy Wednesday everyone!  I trust you’ve enjoyed the Well Read WTG Hop, and grabbed your new a la modes and VIP collection, and now are ready to STAMP!

With most schools either having started or starting VERY soon, it’s time to HIT THE BOOKS!  So that is this weeks Wednesday Stamp Club challenge.

I elected to create a bookmark for Emma.  Her “homework” this year is to read for 30 minutes each night, and so I thought a big bookmark would be the perfect gift!  I used the Wendy Upper Case Alpha from the VIP Kit, along with Framed Greetings, Flower Trio and the Jumbo Ric Rac Die-namics dies to complete this project.

WSC – Cupcakes anyone?

I’m so happy to have made some time to actually STAMP this week!  Mind you, I’m apparently a bit rusty, but eh, that’s what happens….  This week on WSC we are all about the cupcakes!

I decided to ink up Birthday Girl a la mode and using Barbara’s Cupcake Card Template (and my Cricut, which I {heart} since it does all the cutting for me!) I created a cupcake birthday card.

First up, I cut out the cupcake file on Hot Fudge card stock, and then the frosting file in Pink Lemonade and the Brown Gingham DIGI paper pack.  I decided I needed a felt cherry on top, so I created one using the Die-namics Sunshine Die and Banana Split Felt.  I cut out the inner circle of the die and then hand cut a stem.

Then I CRAZY struggled with how to fit my image on the outside of the card, and then got impatient, gave up and put her on the inside instead!

I repeated the pattern of the Gingham DIGI paper pack on the inside, this time trimmed out with our Jumbo Ric Rac Die-namics.

Super simple and super sweet!  Just the way I like ‘em…

WSC – A Trio of Ribbons (06.30.2010)

Happy Wednesday!  This weeks challenge was truly a challenge for me, and I even had to call in reinforcements for how to work it in!  We are creating a project using 3 different types of ribbons.

I decided to make a 3 x 3″ Treat Box featuring Bunch of Bots and the Robot DIGI Papers.

I cut a 2.875″ x 2.875″ piece of paper and then using a glue dot placed 4 pieces of chocolate on the sheet and slipped it inside the 3″ x 3″ box.  I then used a frame (hint…hint…) to stamp one of the Robots in the set and then used a rectangle punch to remove a small area so I could then add a small strip of paper that I stamped one of the sentiments from the set onto and then placed it in the opening so it appears that it is “feeding” out from the opening.  The idea isn’t original to me, but i still {heart} it!  Boy it’s the little things that makes a crafter happy, huh?

I added some additional embellishments like Baby Braddies and of course the three ribbons needed for this weeks Wednesday Stamp Club!

WSC – Creating with Cork or Felt & a Tutorial

Happy Wednesday!  For this weeks Wednesday Stamp Club we are creating with cork and/or felt.  Here’s my project using cork as a main panel instead of just an element.  I also used several Die-namics dies…can you tell how many? It’s kind of a trick question… :P

I stamped a tree from Grow Love onto a Sweet Tooth panel cut with a nestie and also onto a scrap of patterned paper.

I have only recently begun to color using Sweet Tooth and Copics, and the verdict is YIPPEE.  I LOVE it!  It has a bit more tooth than Perfect Paper Panels, which is nice sometimes, and there are many of you who prefer a bit more texture since you’re used to coloring on that type of cardstock.

I must admit I was shocked at first that I liked it so much, and then extremely pleased since it blends so nicely and is also so affordable!  And thirdly, it’s available in 8.5 x 11″ packs. Talk about a paper tri-fecta!

I used the Jumbo Ric Rac Die-namics to cut out a trim piece and then I used the Grosgrain Texture Board to make it match the ribbon texture.

See how deep that impression is?  You have to try the the super thin pad in Embossing Pad Pack.  Seriously.

I then stitched some grosgrain ribbon in a wonky pattern across my Ric Rac shape.

Here’s a close up of the finished tree after coloring, paper piecing and adding a few Glittered Garnishes for good measure.

I wanted to add some dimension under the tree, so once it was colored, including an actual ground for the tree trunk, I cut a Fresh Cut Grass strip and doubled it up so it would appear like a fun grass clump.

Here’s the backside so you can see how I layered it.

Here’s how I created the custom Pearl Flourish.  I happened to have a stencil with several flourish patterns that I laid on top of my cork panel and using a white gel pen, I added dots through the holes so I would know where to place my pearls. If I hadn’t had a stencil, I could have created a pattern with a pencil on white copy paper, or printed one, and then using a paper piercer I could have created the same thing, so a fancy stencil is NOT necessary.

I chose to add pearls but any crystal will also work.  This is definitely a time when the fancy hotfix applicator comes in HANDY!

Once my pattern was down on my cork, I played around with sizes to see what would work best for the flourish I was creating.

Then I put them into place, and viola!  SO stinkin’ cute!  Here’s another trick question… isn’t that the cutest and most perfect little rolled flower?

And here’s another pic of the completed card.

And now how about some GOOD NEWS??? The Cloud Trio, Jumbo Scallop and Grosgrain Texture Board are back in stock!!  You can find them all in the Die-namics category.

WSC – Take Note (05.26.10)

Hi all!  I’m back with a new Wednesday Stamp Club, and I’d love for you to join me this week!  The challenge is to incorporate Take Note or another type of print/text/sheet music into your project.  Here’s my finished sample:

I followed a gorgeous sketch I printed out from a challenge blog, but now can’t find it again!  ACK.

In addition to Take Note, I used the twill that was released as part of our VIP Kit, and will be released on June 2nd, along with our Jumbo Scallops Die-namics die.

Here’s a close up of the twill I cut.  I ran it through my Big Shot back and forth, just like I do my felt.

I probably could’ve run it through an additional turn, maybe I’ll play around with that!

No that your creative juices are flowing, how about a fun promo today only??

- All orders OVER $50 will receive a FREE set (set choices below)

- All orders OVER $75 will receive TWO FREE sets (set choices below)

Choose your favorite from:

What a Girl Wants

Catch Some Rays

Let’s Picnic

Snuggle Bunnies

AlphaDOTS

MAKE SURE TO LIST YOUR SET CHOICE IN THE COMMENTS SECTION OF YOUR ORDER!

Now, who wants to play along for a chance to win a $15 gift voucher to the MFT Boutique?  (PSST…the release is next Wednesday night, and you’ll need some extra spending money…)
