Meet the Designers: Debbie & Joy

Today, we’re continuing our regular feature showcasing a couple of our incredible creative team members. Our team hails from around the globe and we couldn’t do what we do without their talents.

Let’s catch up with Debbie Olson and Joy Taylor.

Creative Team member since: January 2016

What location do you call home? I’ve called the lovely woods of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan home since 1995. I’m originally a South Carolina girl, but the U.P. suits me well, in spite of the snow!

What is your favorite current MFT product? Really? I have to choose just ONE? How about one per category? (I know — that’s probably cheating!)

Die-namics: Stitched Mod Rectangle Stax. In fact, I love anything stitched!

Solid stamps: Painted Flowers

Line Stamps: Birdie Brown images (or anything Jane Allen colors!)

What is your all-time favorite MFT product? I almost cried when Blueprints 15 was retired! Fortunately, we’ve had some awesome replacements. 🙂

What are your hobbies when you’re not creating MFT masterpieces? I enjoy reading, hand-lettering on my iPad, “hanging” with my husband and eighteen-year-old son, playing the piano, cooking, and creating stained glass pieces.

Please share a favorite MFT project you’ve created: I really enjoyed creating this little You’re Rawr-some card with the inside pop-ups.

Creative Team member since: July 2016

What location do you call home? A small country town in New South Wales, Australia

What is your favorite current MFT product? I would have to say the word dies like Wish, Hooray, YAY, and Friends, — so versatile for cards and make a statement on the card and to the recipients.

What is your all-time favorite MFT product? I hands down say Birdie Brown stamps and dies are my overall favourite, especially Recipe for Happiness and Santa’s Elves — those chefs are just the cutest and remind me of one of my favourite movies, Ratatouille. Yep, I am a big kid at heart LOL and the elves, well they are adorable.

What are your hobbies when you’re not creating MFT masterpieces? I have many other hobbies. This past year I learnt how to crochet and retaught myself to knit. I love it — I am slow but it is so relaxing and I have met some wonderful people through it. I also enjoy photography although I’m not that fabulous. I love to garden, but sadly the weeds are laughing and making fun of me at the moment. Also cooking and I’ve just started to dabble in sewing.

Please share a favorite MFT project you’ve created: I do have a lot of favourites but if I had to pick one it would be the cute little hedgehog that I added to this card. I created my own background panel using the leaf stamp on Grout Gray Card Stock and I was really happy with how this card turned out.

Meet the Designers: Inge & Francine

Before we catch up with a couple of our creative team members today, We have some exciting news. Rachel Alvarado was one of our 2017 Card Design Superstars and as of today, she’s our newest Creative Team Member!

We’re all so excited to have her joining us and if *you’re* excited too — you’re in luck. Our March Release Countdown begins TOMORROW so you won’t have to wait long to see her creativity in action. Welcome, Rachel!

Let’s catch up with  Inge Groot and Francine Vuilleme.

Creative Team member since: May 2015

What location do you call home? I live in Bovenkarspel — a small town in the Netherlands.

What is your favorite current MFT product? My favorite product for now is the In Paris stamp set and coordinating Die-namics. This set is so versatile with, besides the Eiffel Tower, houses, balloons, the doggie and that cute little bicycle (I am Dutch so my favorite transport is, of course, a bike!) You can use this set for almost any occasion.

What is your all-time favorite MFT product? That’s such a hard choice and varies day by day 😉 but my most used MFT stamp set is Distressed Patterns. I love all those splashes! I secretly hope there will be another MFT set in the future like this with more of those fun splashes.

What are your hobbies when you’re not creating MFT masterpieces? I love hiking, reading, spending time with my family, cooking, going to concerts — especially when my favorite bands from the 80’s like The Cure or Depeche Mode are performing, and watching Netflix with a hot cup of coffee and chocolate.

Please share a favorite MFT project you’ve created: I’ve attached my favorite card for this moment. I love how this card turned out with the spinner air balloon.

What location do you call home? I live in Switzerland, in the wonderful Three Lakes Region (5 minutes away from the lakes of Neuchâtel, Murten, Biel). It’s in the countryside but very close to the cities of Neuchâtel and Bern (the capital of Switzerland).

What is your favorite current MFT product? ONE??? Are you kidding me? My favorites list is endless because MFT is a crazy good company so you can’t just ask for one LOL. My go-to products are all STAX & shapes Die-namics (especially the stitched ones), stencils, tiny heart from the Tag Builder Blueprints sets, tiny dotted paper, Black & White Stripes patterned paper, as well as grassy borders or cloud dies for scenes. I especially love the Radiating Rays, the Cloud / Mini Cloud Edges and the Small Brick Wall stencils. I also love combining stamped sentiments with the Little Letters or the Bottlecap Letters Die-namics.

What is your all-time favorite MFT product? In addition to the products already mentioned, my heart belongs to all Birdie Brown stamp sets.

What are your hobbies when you’re not creating MFT masterpieces? Cuddling and playing with my pets (I LOVE animals), cooking and baking, playing board games with family and friends, taking walks along the lake, sunbathing and enjoying the lake on our boat during summer.

Please share a favorite MFT project you’ve created: It’s not my favorite project but it combines a lot of my favorite crafty things: a little bit of coloring, a lot of ink blending, die cutting, enamel dots, out of the box ideas and of course…rainbow colors!

All winners will be announced at our Closing Ceremony on Thursday, February 22, so make sure to check back to see if you are one of our medalists!

EVENT 3

The Crafty Biathlon tests your ability to adapt to obstacles and excel in multiple challenges simultaneously. Below you’ll find two columns – one representing a technique and the other, a type of card. Your challenge is to select one option from each column and combine into one fabulous card!

Stephanie chose to combine the inlaid die-cutting technique with a shaker card to create this darling look. Her ingenious nod to the Olympic rings was the perfect opportunity to integrate both the shaker and inlaid categories!

Handmade card from Stephanie Klauck featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

In addition to showcasing the exceptional skill of the athletes and promoting the nations of the world to come together, the Olympics are just a little bit glamorous so that hint of sparkle is so appropriate.

The Olympics have started — are you as excited as we are? We’re so excited in fact, we’re hosting our own Creative Olympics and we want each and every one of you to compete.

Just like the Olympics, crafting brings people together. We can’t wait to spend the next two weeks bringing the competition right to your home. Compete with your fellow cardmakers, feel pride in the cards you create in response to each event, and maybe even walk away from the 2018 Creative Olympics with a medal!

If you need some inspiration…some examples of grit, determination, and stamina as you tackle each event, turn on the PyeongChang games to watch as you compete — I know that’s what we’ll be doing in the weeks to come!

EVENT 1

The Stamping Slalom will test your creativity in combining images. Create one card that includes at least three separate stamp sets — any three MFT sets in your collection!

Your card doesn’t need to be in the Olympic vein like Stephanie’s but it sure is a fun little touch to tie it into the event theme! She’s gone above and beyond by including four characters — each from a different stamp set! A wintry theme ties them together though to create a cohesive scene featuring a variety of brrrrr-illiant outdoor activities.

Are you ready to go for the gold? On your marks, get set, GO.

Today, we’re continuing our regular feature showcasing a couple of our incredible creative team members. Our team hails from around the globe and we couldn’t do what we do without their talents.

Let’s catch up with Karolyn Loncon and Laurie Willison.

Creative Team member since: May 2015

What location do you call home? Well, that’s so interesting that you ask that! LOL I live in Issaquah, Washington in the summer, and Chandler, Arizona in the winter. We are so fortunate to enjoy the best seasons of both locations!

What is your favorite current MFT product? Hands down, my favorite and most used My Favorite Things product is Smooth White Card Stock. It is THE perfect white card stock – perfect shade of white, perfect weight, and the BEST for ink blending – ink blends on it like buttah! I pretty much use it on every single card!

What is your all-time favorite MFT product? Oh, that’s an easy one – Blueprints 15 Die-namics! I miss them so much! LOL Again, before they were retired, I used the stitched rectangle from that set on almost every single card that I made! I also loved the angled image panel dies. *Sniff* I really miss them…

What are your hobbies when you’re not creating MFT masterpieces? I love to travel, play BINGO (don’t judge – it’s FUN! LOL), and spend time with my kids and grandkids.

Please share a favorite MFT project you’ve created:

Handmade card from Karolyn Loncon featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Creative Team member since: May 2015

What location do you call home? I am from Colorado but I live in Kansas. I miss the mountains but try to get there as many times a year as I can!

What is your favorite current MFT product? Cloud Stencils!! ?  Those little cloud details can add so much to a card. I’m a clean and simple stamper and that is one super fun detail I like to add that still keeps a card nice and simple.

What is your all-time favorite MFT product? My favorite MFT products are any and all sentiment dies. I love, love a sentiment die created in a fun font like Hello There, Peaceful Greetings, and Sending Hugs. I love to stack them up with fun foam and create a dimensional sentiment.

What are your hobbies when you’re not creating MFT masterpieces? I love using my Silhouette Cameo to make vinyl projects…tumblers, shirts, pillows, etc. I’m also attempting to learn how to hand letter. But one of my most favorite past times is playing board games with my kiddos. 🙂

Please share a favorite MFT project you’ve created: OK you said one but I couldn’t pick, lol!
