Hi all!  It’s been a busy week packing up all of the orders that came in from the release, so I thought I’d take a minute to post a card I made a few weeks back!  This one features one of the new Annie LaPoint images, Take a Break.  The card is pretty straightforward, so I doubt you need any explanation, but I wanted to point out that it uses the Springtime digital paper collection.  I’m surprised by how many people have downloaded the digital paper packs, and am always happy to see them in the order queue and see the projects created with them afterward.  It’s the ultimate in instant gratification!  Download and start printing in 10 mins flat!

I will be back Thursday with a Father’s Day card using my new set from Gina K. and her woodless colored pencils I received as yesterdays happy mail!

I will also be posting a pic this week of the most lovely handmade happy mail in the form of a handmade watch, so stay tuned!

MFT Presents…a winner!

My Favorite Things is pleased and proud to introduce you to our brand-spankin’ new line, My Favorite Things Presents!

My Favorite Things Presents opens the door for us to work with new Illustrators and continue to offer images that are “Fresh, Fun and Completely Distinctive!”

This spin-off brand will begin by offering images from artist Annie LaPoint, being introduced over the next few months.  Other Illustrators, as *need* arises, will be added as we find artists and styles we feel would translate well into the stamp world and as we see a niche we can uniquely fill.

My Favorite Things original brand will continue to be drawn by the irreplaceable Christy Beckwith, whose style has so completely captured our hearts.

I hope you enjoy all of our new releases, and I thank all of YOU who’ve made My Favorite Things your favorite too!

WHOO HOO!  We are SO STINKIN’ excited to show you some of what’s in the works for MFT, beginning with the formation of a new line and images from a new Illustrator.  As of now, there are 10 images  we will be introducing from this artist over the next four months, and we hope you enjoy the whimsy these sweet florals bring to the line!  I hope you’ll join us TONIGHT for the big release, there’s lot of good stuff and give-away’s.  We are trying to make it worth joining us each release and also say thanks to our loyal *gang* who makes time the first Wed of each month.

MFTeaser Day Two!

Here is my Day 2 teaser made with Here’s the Scoop…!  I followed Cindy’s sketch challenge, which she so ably creates every week.  I love to see everyone’s cards, and it’s nice to see how many people participate each week.  The card is pretty straightforward, I used the diVine Rubber Soul paper collection which we now carry in the store, and masked off the ice cream scoop so I could give myself a quadruple cone!  Featuring my favorite, Mint Chocolate Chip!  Tomorrow will bring the final teasers, and an unveiling I hope you’ll enjoy!  You can check out all the deets for our June release HERE, and it is a big one, so I hope to see YOU at the party!

Lastly, you’ve still got another 24 hours for the blog candy below!

Congrats All Around Baby Gifts!

It’s not often I get to actually work with the new releases, but when I looked at the blank calendar for this w/e, I knew exactly what I was going to do!  One of the families at the day care Emma attends is expecting a baby girl, so I thought the new Congrats All Around would lend itself to a perfect gift to welcome the new little love!  The Congrats All Around set works with the purple and pink Marvy Scalloped Circle punches, and also the 1 1/4″ (or even 1 3/8ths) circle punch from SU or EK Success or Marvy.

For the gift above, I took a pkg of 3 onesies, rolled them up and put them in a pot.  I then took several lollipops (for shame, the ONLY bag I could find must’ve had a 100!) and layered different combinations using the set to look like flowers.  I put the lollipop sticks into the pot and secured them with styrofoam (from a recent food processor purchase…recycling!) to make them sturdy and give them height.

I wrapped the pot in tissue paper, made a small tag and wrapped it in Daisy Bucket paper ribbon.  This is the kind of project that shows off the potential of this ribbon.  I certainly couldn’t have achieved this effect with fabric!

For the card, I recreated the theme I’d used on the basket, also including the large Congratulations stamp in the set.  I then used the large Karen Foster snap stamps Jen gave me to simulate a stem so the card would match the gift.  I LOVE it when super simple looks super cute, and I am SO happy with how this turned out!

There’s still time to win the blog candy below and I’ll be back tomorrow with MFTeaser #2!

Happy Occasions and an MFTreat!

Yes…I realize Mother’s Day was weeks ago, but I am now getting around to uploading the card I made for my MIL!  It would even be fair to say I am getting around to MAKING the Mother’s Day card for my MIL.  Sigh.  There you have it…procrastination at its finest.  Well, not procrastination really, I just am the kind of person who has to have her *chores* done before she plays, even when that playing is actually necessary!  So, enough about my paper indiscretions, and onto card #1: I used Happy Occasions since it is SO stinkin’ easy to create with.  I added the scalloped background with Setting the Stage and the sentiment from Essential Sentiments.

For card #2, I am cleaning up my act and getting my FIL’s card out early!!  HA!  Since they live in Holland, we don’t get around to mailing things as often as we should, and the only chance I have for this to arrive in time is to send it with the Mother’s Day card.  Some happy mail for all!  I again used Happy Occasions for this card and It’s Elemental for the background image.  This ALSO follows this weeks sketch challenge on SCS!  Whoo hoo!

Now, since I will be prepping for the release next Wed….I thought it would be fun to offer a little Treat.  Well, scratch that…a BIG TREAT! How about ALL the JUNE RELEASES!  Yep…that’s worth almost $60!  Leave a numbred comment, with your email attached, and I will pick a winner Wed morning before the release.  It’s my biggest blog candy ever, so I hope you’ll play along!

Cupcakes ALWAYS!

Well good afternoon!  I don’t know about you, but I am WAY looking forward to having Monday off from work!  WHOO HOO!

Let’s get the business at hand out of the way and then we can discuss the card… Will  Monica  come on down!  She is number 20 and the winner of the What’s Up Cupcake set!

She said: #20 WOW.. I would so love to win this!!!  Monica~ riverviewstamper at gmail dot com

The info for the card above is pretty straightforward.  I used the Going to the Chapel set, and I love this set.  I think it’s under-used, and hasn’t been shown in its full glory yet.  I’ve seen a couple cards made with the set that left me drooling, but I think there’s room for more.  Have any of you seen a card with this set you loved?  If os, leave a link!

The things I’d like to point out about the card are: 1) the way cute Rubber Soul patterned paper and 2) the shimmery watercolors on her dress.

1) Rubber Soul has delightful 8 x 8 paper packs that are on their way to me and will be in the store very soon!  I love the whimsy of the paper, and it is quite a nice weight as well.  We’ve ordered several of the 8 x 8 double sided patterned paper that I feel would work well with our stamps, so be on lookout!

2) We are in process of loading two Pearlescent Watercolor options in the store, both by Yasutomo.  One is a 16 color palette and the other a 21 color palette and they are CHEAP!  A complete bargain, seriously!  They both are self-contained plastic palettes, kind of like Twinkling H2O’s that are portable.  The 16 color will retail for $3.95 and the 21 color (which has larger amounts of the colors as well) retails for $5.95!  Do you believe it!  I kid you not they are the bargain of the month!

Speaking of months…June will bring HUGE news, changes and FUN at the release party and beyond, so stay tuned!

Going Somewhere??

I made this for the MFT Sketch Challenge #31.  Hopefully you’ll find some time to play along soon, CIndy does a great job each week of creating new sketches and of course, it’s always a pleasure to see how everyone takes it and makes it their own.

This card features the Goin’ Places set, and ALMOST follows the sketch!  I cut a large circle out of light blue paper and stamped the cityscape at the bottom, coating the building with Glaze pen and adding glitter in the windows.  I stamped the banner, the sentiment inside the banner and the plane on white cs and cut everything out.  I used markers on the plane and then coated it with Glaze pen as well.

I punched out a pale yellow circle and used it for the moon, the coated it with a light layer of glitter to make it sparkle.  I then hand drew in some stars with my Stardust pen and there you have it!  The card is much more sparkly IRL, sometimes pics don’t do them justice!  Especially, when taking them is not your strength!

Don’t forget, there’s an MFTreat below!  Check it out!

MFTSC30 Happy Birthday Cupcakes!

I finally made time over the w/e to do this weeks sketch challenge on our SCS forum only to realize that I had done it with an unreleased set!  This is a super secret MFTeaser of our June MINI set, What’s Up Cupcake?!  What do you think????  I really love this set!  The cupcake tier is one stamp, then the tower of cupcakes in another and then the icing top stamp is another.  The cool thing (to me anyway) is that the icing caps is one single stamp, as is the sprinkle stamp also included in the set.  Then there’s a single cherry, candle and heart you can use to to top your cupcakes!  Neat, huh?  I really liked how well the icing caps turned out on this card, I used Chocolate Brilliance ink which covered quite nicely.

Seems I’m always a week behind with these things, so the MFTST31 is already posted, so hope you can play this week too!

Since an MFTeaser without an MFTreat hardly seems fair, how about leaving a numbered comment below and YOU can win a What’s Up Cupcake? set of your very own!  I will select a winner on Friday, May 23rd, so post from now until then, but make sure it’s numbered and your email addy is listed!

Finally…a project!

Imagine that!  I am actually posting a project!  WHOO HOO!  (And SNORT ‘specially for Carole)  I made this using a little mailbox I’d picked up at Target before Valentine’s Day, and then never made time to do anything with it.  I cased a mailbox tin Joanne Basile made for me, and gave to me at CHA (along with some Hot Tamales!  See why she’s a keeper?).  I put my own spin on it of course, using Hearts Galore and oodles of Heidi Swapp pink jewels.  I wonder how long they’ll stay on there??

Here is the pic I promised of Todd and me at the benefit for he and the boys.  The night was truly a celebration and we had a great time.  Todd was very surprised when I handed him his check!  There were beautiful pictures of Tish and the boys are so big now I hardly recognized them.  There was a point during the night that I was watching the boys playing with some friends and was struck by how hard it must’ve been for Tish to let go knowing there was so much in their lives she would miss.  Yes, her presence will no doubt be felt by all, but here are two young boys that will never have their foreheads kissed again, or their hair swept out of their eyes by their Mom.  I pray for them and I pray that I will never know that kind of pain.  I will stay in touch and keep everyone posted on how they are doing.  They are blessed with an amazing support system and now can include all of you in it!  Now I’m off to kiss my own little foreheads and freeze the memory into my head and my heart since they’re only young for such a short time…

Gone to the Dogs goes to…

  • Jennifer Welter Says:
    #50 – can’t wait for the dogs!!
  • Email me with your addy and I will get it out in the mail!!!!

I hope you’ll join us tonight, from 9-11pm EST, for the release party on SCS.  It is always an absolute hoot!  We will also host the next Guest Designer challenge, and trust me, you’ll want to be in the loop for June.  There are some BIG things coming!!

Later this week I will have a pic I took of Todd and I at the benefit for Tish, and maybe will be able to squeek a project in as well.

Also, did you see this???? Is she not the sweetest ever?!  In addition to being gorgeous, having gorgeous, talented kids, offering great products, being a marketing genius, she probably even has thin thighs.  Yeah, I’m not liking her much right now either.  HA!  Seriously, what a great friend.  I was talking with someone over the w/e at the Arlington Shoebox Swap about the industry and about how many manufacturers really band together and form friendships, and she commented that this kind of support would never be seen if the industry were run by men.  I think she’s completely right.  Girls RULE!

Off to check on the Curried Chicken with Apples delight currently in the crockpot and get everyone cared for so I can settle in for a night of laughter with all of YOU!

    Hugs!
