Round and Round in Circles with the MFT Design Team

The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we challenged the team to create with our Circle STAX. Just below you’ll find a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.

This months Creative Challenge was to use Circle STAX, and I decided to incorporate them into an unconventional Valentine’s Day card for hubby. :-) I started off by cutting two circles, each with cut outs in the center, using various sizes of Circle STAX so I would have a multidimensional look to my Magic 8 Ball.  I also cut out a piece of acetate, which I colored blue using a Copic marker reinker, and a triangle made from the smallest piece in Jumbo Banner STAX Die-namics.  My nickname for Martin is My Handsome, so it was perfectly fitting that I found these two words and combined them to personalize this card for him.  I used LLD Document It – Off the Chart and LLD Document It – Days and Dates.  I had to commit a little *stampacide* to make this card happen, but sometimes it’s worth it! I used my B14 reinker to make my acetate panel a shade of blue that pretty closely resembles the liquid inside a Magic 8 Ball.  I didn’t want it to be a completely even coat because when the Magic 8 Ball is shaken up, it is always filled with air bubbles (mine is anyway) and I wanted to make it look realistic.
To create depth in this project, I layered the two cut-outs together, adding pop-dots between the two so that the triangle greeting would have room to maneuver inside the card. I committed a bit more *stampacide* by cutting two sentiments in At the Movies to create the sentiment True Love Is and then finished with High-Rise Alphabet to add the word Magic.  Once I cut my letters, I added a glitter paint so they would look the part.  I love how they turned out! Here is a picture of the front of the card.  I kept it very simple because I didn’t want to compete with the Magic 8 Ball since that was the focus.  I used LJD Hearts and Stitches to add a little detail to the front so it wouldn’t appear so plain. Here’s a close-up of the front of the card.  I love how the inside moves and recreates the look of a real Magic 8 Ball! You’ll find links to the products I’ve  used just below:
I can’t wait to see what the MFT Team has conjured up in this challenge, but you can bet each post will be chock-full of amazingness!

Here’s a peek at a sweet card using Lisa Johnson Design Darling Dots. This fun sample uses Lisa Johnson Western Backgrounds to add rustic wood paneling, and also incorporates Finishing Flourishes for added detail on the diecut letters.

You can find the links to the products used in these two cards just below:

We hope you’re inspired to do a little background stamping yourself, and we look forward to your samples over in the Gallery at Splitcoaststampers.

Now it’s time to see what our amazing Design Team  has come up with for this month’s challenge.  Be sure to check out the samples from the participating designers by clicking on each of the graphics below.

Create Holiday Home Decor

The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we challenge our designers to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we asked the team to create Holiday Home Decor using our MFT Stamps and Die-namics. Even though it’s well after Thanksgiving, I DO have something I am thankful for, and that’s an opportunity to CREATE!

Jody and I spent most of Sunday crafting (and snacking) together, and I had such a great time. I can’t WAIT to do it again.  To create my home decor items I used 4×4 canvas cubes I purchased from Michael’s. I covered each one in a blend of gesso and acrylic paint. Once the paint layer was dry, I used a stencil to add a pearlized paint accent, and then added a bit of silver Stickles on select dots for an accent. I sprayed Silver Memories Mist on the Whip Cream card stock I used to cut out the lighter layer Circle STAX panel as well as each letter. It covered evenly, and beautifully! I coated each Jumbo Snowflake in the pearlized paint to make it shimmer.  Once everything was assembled, I added some 4mm Swarovski crystals as a final accent. I just love how it turned out! Cards Created Without Pattern Paper

The My Favorite Things Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where challenge our designers to explore their creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we challenged our designers to create a card or project without the use of patterned paper. Just below, we have a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.  For many of these patterned paper loving girls, this was a little bit scary, but their projects are all so beautiful.  After all, with My Favorite Things stamps and Die-namics you have the ability to create your own custom patterns to bring your creative vision to life. The girls have some new samples to share below which are linked just below, but here are just a few ways that they’ve recently created using only stamps, Die-namics, ink and coloring tools to create magnificent works of art.

Mona recently added text print details to the Primitive Pumpkins Trio from Own Your Story.

Lisa stamps her own patterned paper using a small stamp in Blessed Mouse.

Barbara creates a gorgeous, dimensional pop of color using only cardstock and Die-namics.
