Creative Challenge: Contemporary Christmas Colors

Print

Red and green are beautiful and traditional but also, a bit predictable this time of year. This month, we’ve challenged the team to think outside the box by applying non-traditional color schemes to their Christmas crafting. Modernize your holiday with an unexpected pop of color!

Handmade card from Francine Vuilleme featuring Hand Lettered Holiday

Francine’s rich, jewel-like color choices are a beautiful match to the Modern Blooms stamp set. Grounded on a Pure Plum card base, this look will be a memorable Christmas greeting to a very lucky recipient.

Handmade card from Stephanie Klauck featuring Miss Tiina's Christmas Cuteness

Icy blue is a beautiful counterpoint to vivid Santa red on Stephanie’s adorable card. Subtly stamped snowflakes accented with a hint of sparkle complete the look to perfection.

Creative Construction: Presentable Presents

MFT_CreativeConstruction_SideBar

We love Blueprints because they take the guesswork out of crafting beautiful cards in quick fashion when we’re short on time or inspiration. We also love them for their versatility and ability to be mixed and matched when we have the time and inspiration to create something truly unique. Our Creative Construction Challenge focuses on these attributes each month, challenging the team to either assemble a card based on one of the provided Blueprints sketches or design an original card combining elements from the featured Blueprints.

Did you know you can find ALL of our printable Blueprints sketches in one spot? Our Printable Resources section over there in the sidebar is packed with handy reference materials including Blueprints. The hustle and bustle of the season doesn’t allow us as much play time as we’d like. Fortunately for us devoted crafters, there’s still ample opportunity to put those supplies to good use. This month, we’ve challenged our team of designers to use Blueprints to create pretty packaging for the humble gift card.

Handmade card from Kay Miller featuring Winter Warmth

Kay’s festive look is redolent of the traditional Christmas hues in vibrant shades of red and green. Seasonal accents created with the Pierced Snowflakes Die-namics and the Winter Warmth stamp set and Die-namics are the perfect accents for the pocket base she created using Blueprints 9.

Handmade gift card holder from Stephanie Klauck

Cool tones complement the gift card housed within perfectly on Stephanie’s fun project! I love how she create a window to spotlight that unmistakable logo. The sentiment she chose (don’t miss how she curved it to fit her banner) is just right for a rocking gift like this one.

Add some extra warmth and coziness to your handcrafted gift presentation with this sale on select stamps, Die-namics, and stencils. No coupon code necessary – simply shop our Sale category to see all of the included products! This offer ends today so shop now.

Advent calendar from Barbara Anders featuring Santa Suit Die-namics

Barbara has a brilliant take on this month’s challenge, opting to create a perpetual countdown with a hard-backed canvas board and custom magnet numbers. Check out how she trimmed our Die-namics magnet backing down to attach to her die-cut numbers – so smart! Accenting her canvas with elements from the Santa Suit Die-namics reinforces the holiday theme perfectly.

Creative Construction: Hip to be Square

Did you know you can find ALL of our printable Blueprints sketches in one spot? Our Printable Resources section over there in the sidebar is packed with handy reference materials including Blueprints. Traditionally, we reach for an A2 base for our cards – it’s a familiar canvas that we’re accustomed to using as a starting point for our greetings. Switching things up with a square base provides the opportunity to challenge ourselves with a different point of view. Our Blueprints line features a number of sets that provide every element necessary for crafting square cards and our team is here to demonstrate their versatility.

Handmade card from Kay Miller featuring Birdie Brown You Gnome Me.

Blueprints 14, in addition to a number of beautiful accents, includes this stitched square element that provides a gorgeous backdrop to the Quilt Square Cover-Up and die cuts from Birdie Brown’s You Gnome Me that Kay used to create her card.

Handmade card from Torico featuring Spooky House Die-namics.

Torico’s spooky scene is elegantly framed by the bracketed element from Blueprints 19. Check out that sweet mix of cute ghosts and eery house – those glowing windows are really just the perfect touch.
