Julia’s card combines the Four Way Chevron Cover-Up and Pierced Snowflakes Die-namics in fresh Smooth White and Sno Cone with the elegant look of gold foil for the die-cut sentiment. It’s stunning but easy to mass-produce thanks to the collection of Die-namics she chose to construct the look.

Handmade card from Keisha Campbell featuring Merry Die-namics

Keisha’s paired the Merry Die-namics and Pop-Up Holiday Die-namics to create her custom sentiment. Backing the look with a bold Red Hot pattern created with the Diagonal Stripes Stencil adds a pop of color whole maintaining an identifiably Christmas color scheme.

Advent calendar from Barbara Anders featuring Santa Suit Die-namics

Barbara has a brilliant take on this month’s challenge, opting to create a perpetual countdown with a hard-backed canvas board and custom magnet numbers. Check out how she trimmed our Die-namics magnet backing down to attach to her die-cut numbers – so smart! Accenting her canvas with elements from the Santa Suit Die-namics reinforces the holiday theme perfectly.

Creative Construction: Hip to be Square

Our Printable Resources section over there in the sidebar is packed with handy reference materials including Blueprints. Traditionally, we reach for an A2 base for our cards – it’s a familiar canvas that we’re accustomed to using as a starting point for our greetings. Switching things up with a square base provides the opportunity to challenge ourselves with a different point of view. Our Blueprints line features a number of sets that provide every element necessary for crafting square cards and our team is here to demonstrate their versatility.

Handmade card from Kay Miller featuring Birdie Brown You Gnome Me.

Blueprints 14, in addition to a number of beautiful accents, includes this stitched square element that provides a gorgeous backdrop to the Quilt Square Cover-Up and die cuts from Birdie Brown’s You Gnome Me that Kay used to create her card.

Handmade card from Torico featuring Spooky House Die-namics.

Torico’s spooky scene is elegantly framed by the bracketed element from Blueprints 19. Check out that sweet mix of cute ghosts and eery house – those glowing windows are really just the perfect touch.

Ingenious Inking: Resistance is Futile

MFT_IngeniousInking_SideBar

The projects featured this month are irresistibly cool examples of using different methods and formulas of ink to create eye-catching resist looks on your cards and projects. Ingenious? Absolutely. Keep clicking to see how this challenge inspired our talented (and inky!) team of designers.

Handmade card from Kimberly Crawford featuring Blueprints 26 Die-namics.

Kimberly’s double-resist technique produces a cool layered resist pattern. After first stamping the Happy Birthday Background and heat setting, she stamped the Star Background in Versamark and used a clear embossing powder to heat emboss. Finally, she blended the gorgeous Persimmon Premium Dye Ink over the entire die-cut balloon surface. Just imagine all of the pattern mixing options this technique opens up!

Handmade card from Donna Mikasa featuring the Balloon Strings Background.

Donna’s lovely look features the Balloon Strings Background. After heat embossing the pattern onto watercolor paper, she used the resulting lines to guide her watercolor application. The Peerless Transparent Watercolors produced the stunning rich hues you see here.
