Toucan Do It colored by Donna Mikasa #mftstamps

Toucans conjure vibrant, fruity colors (okay, that may be my inner child talking…lovingly recalling favorite cereals from my youth ;)) and Donna’s version of Toucan Do It brings those colors to the forefront.

Birdie Brown Gill Friends colored by Rachel Alvarado #mftstamps

It’s no surprise that fish and birds are ripe for vivid color — our designers went above and beyond bringing these creatures to life with their coloring skills this month. Rachel’s Gill Friends feature rich depth thanks to intense shading and contrasting color choices.

Hits & Highlights

There’s something magical about May…the transition from spring into summer and the explosion of color…seems like the perfect time to bring some magic into our crafting as well. We’ve opened it up to our team this month, challenging them to feature magical creatures or, simply integrate the colors those magical creatures conjure in our imaginations. My ability to predict the future isn’t magical but I *do* predict lots of mermaids and unicorns in the very near future!

Handmade card from Joy Taylor featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Cool blues and greens provide a soothing palette for this Mermazing card. These beauties deserve the spotlight and Joy has certainly provided one with her beautifully blended background and subtle scene-setting elements. Barely-there bubbles, created with the Basic Shapes – Circles Stencil, add lightness and interest.

Garden gnomes are an absolute delight and Rachel’s box card showcases the whole collection beautifully! Her whimsical dimensional scene manages to show off almost every image in the set. Adding in grassy edges and just a hint of complementary pattern ties the whole look together.

You’ve probably already seen a number of different applications of our cross-stitch products but this example from Jane provides a fantastic new twist. Her thread color choices for the floor portion of her scene create a gingham-like pattern while her selective stitching on the top half creates a textural dot-and-diamond pattern with less stitching required.

Handmade card from Laurie Willison featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Laurie’s card evokes a festive feeling by relying on a simple color scheme, a few stamped and die-cut images, and some fun mixing and matching of elements to create four unique quadrants of fun.
