Release Replay: October 2017

Today our team is taking a fresh look at our most recent release with inspiring ideas and innovative takes on the complete collection. We love the opportunity to look at our products with fresh eyes, envisioning entirely new ways to showcase the possibilities they present. We can’t wait to share our ideas with you!

Handmade card from Laurie Willison featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Laurie’s white and palest-of-blue card is the ultimate in soothing and relaxing. While using the house elements from Scenic Snow Globe can create a dramatic effect in black and a cheery effect in full color, tone-on-tone white create a peaceful scene perfect for the season…just imagine the mental quiet you feel when a fresh blanket of snow has carpeted your world!

Layered Die-namics present the perfect opportunity to create depth and dimension without relying on an abundance of color. Think about how color evokes mood and choose accordingly to create the feeling you’re after.

Handmade snow globe from Torico featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Torico used the new Scenic Snow Globe Die-namics quite literally in creating this completely charming duo of faux snow globes.  Repurpose a petite jar headed for the recycling bin to create a delightful bit of home decor or small gift.

In addition to cards, you possibly already dip into your supplies for tags, memory keeping, and other paper crafts. Affordable home decor is within reach as well though — we’d love to see your ideas for dimensional decor items like Torico’s!

Handmade card from Jody Morrow featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Essential Fishtail Sentiment Strips are perfect for housing a sentiment with style. The strips are sized to perfectly mix and match with your stamped and die-cut sentiments. Jody’s endearing sentiment choice is a beautiful pairing with the Rustic Wildflowers patterned panel she’s created.

Handmade card from Barbara Anders featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Essential Cover-Ups are awesome in so many ways. They provide a frame and sentiment strip in one while allowing you to showcase a fun scene like the one Barbara has created with Feel Better. The Essential Sentiments stamp set features the perfect follow-up phrase for the scripty Feel Better sentiment as well — that clean and simple font will work with any stamps you have in your collection!

Handmade card from Inge Groot featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Our Bundles of Blossoms Background is a customer favorite so introducing the pattern in the form of a colorful paper pack (in TWO colorways) was a no-brainer. Inge mixed her florals on this cheery look – Rustic Wildflowers turned out to be perfectly complemented by that exposed snippet of paper!

Blue might not be your first choice for flowers but this card from Inge is beautiful and memorable – maybe it’s time to re-think blue for your pretty floral looks!

Handmade card from Torico featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Our Pop-Up Alphabet Die-namics provides so many fun ways to add surprise dimension to your projects. In addition to adding a simple greeting to your card front, Torico’s trio shows two additional ways to integrate this versatile alphabet.

Shaping your card edges and creating dimensional greetings inside your card are fantastic ways to distinguish your projects. Use temporary tape to secure your letters together so they can be used for multiple projects without the need to repeatedly align your dies.

Handmade card from Francine Vuilleme featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

“Paisley” might not be your first thought when you think about Halloween crafting but now that you’ve seen Francine’s look pairing the new Birdie Brown Fab-BOO-lous Friends with a ghosted background created with the Bold Paisley Stencil, you might change your mind.

How often do you start a card with a black base? If you want to create a bold look that will make colored die cuts pop, consider giving black a try (also, those paisley ghosts look amazing on black!)

Handmade card from Melania Deasy featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Melania has made More Monsters the stars on this card. Pretty pastels are an unexpected color choice for these cheery creatures but what an unforgettable impression they make.

Frames, STAX, and Blueprints elements are great for creating layering pieces for your projects. Using the resulting negative trimmed to card size creates a beautiful framing option as well though…let no piece go to waste!)

Creative Construction with Blueprints – Make it Masculine

MFT_CreativeConstruction_SideBar

We love Blueprints because they take the guesswork out of crafting beautiful cards (and tags!) in quick fashion when we’re short on time or inspiration. We also love them for their versatility and ability to be mixed and matched when we have the time and inspiration to create something truly unique. Our Creative Construction Challenge focuses on these attributes each month, challenging the team to either assemble a card based on one of the provided Blueprints sketches or design an original design combining elements from the featured Blueprints.

Did you know you can find ALL of our printable Blueprints sketches in one spot? Our Printable Resources section over there in the sidebar is packed with handy reference materials including Blueprints.

Fathers, husbands, sons, and brothers – don’t forget that the men in your life appreciate your hand-crafted creations too! This month, we’re celebrating them with masculine cards featuring Blueprints elements.

Handmade card from Jodi Collins featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Jodi’s choice of Get Down to Business is decidedly masculine but that’s not the only way she’s created a strong look. Her peek-a-boo panel from Blueprints 22 is a bold backdrop in After Midnight and her patterned paper choice is solid, graphic, and in yellow and green — a perfect tie-in to her stamped and die cut images.

Handmade card from Karolyn Loncon featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

The men in your life love interactive cards as well! Create a scene your anchor will adore by die cutting a semi-circle window using Blueprints 21 before blending a stunning sunset.

Release Replay: June 2017

Today our team is taking a fresh look at our most recent release with inspiring ideas and innovative takes on the complete collection. We love the opportunity to look at our products with fresh eyes, envisioning entirely new ways to showcase the possibilities they present. We can’t wait to share our ideas with you!

Handmade card from Joy Taylor featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Ocean Pals features adorable two-step aquatic animals that pair perfectly with the plants in our previously released Exquisite Ocean set. We’re so inspired by the blended ink panel that Joy created before die-cutting and layering a stitched frame to highlight her scene.

Stamp and heat emboss elements on vellum – the transparency of the vellum creates a feeling of lightness to the element while the heat-embossing still provides visual weight.

Handmade card from Donna Mikasa featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

This camouflaged sentiment look Donna created with our current Free with $60 Die-namics is so versatile. It’s a fantastic way of preserving the look of the background you’ve created while still conveying your message.

Stencils are truly one of the hardest-working tools you have in your collection. This beautiful masking technique adds so much depth and implied texture to Donna’s thank you card.

Creative Construction with Blueprints – Flowers & Foliage

Flowers and leaves always add elegance and an inviting organic feel to your projects. Whether you build a bouquet of beautiful blooms or feature a single standout blossom, your recipient will be touched by your effort. Many of our Blueprints Die-namics feature floral accents and this month, our team has crafted a bevy of looks to inspire your next project.

Handmade card from Donna Mikasa featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

Soft neutrals and subtle patterns are a pretty pairing for Donna’s card featuring Blueprints 14. Her floral cluster provides a nice balance to her sentiment.

Handmade card from Inge Groot featuring products from My Favorite Things #mftstamps

I love the contrast between Donna’s and Inge’s card. Both feature elements from the same Blueprints set, as well as a version of “thanks” but the results are starkly different. Inge’s look is bold and graphic where Donna’s is soft and homey. Both are absolutely beautiful though!
